Here's what MacGameStore, the authorized distributor of the UB upgrade, has to say:

That's a good business move, seeing as Halo 3 generates lots of demand.

I've emailed Destineer to ask if they are still selling serials, as this would unlock the UB version for sale at MGS, and not require any production on their end.
