Hi,

I use the i5 and the HD grumbles sometimes scarcely audible, but folks, I'm working on that machine, not listening ...

I just received my week 45 i5 imac 2 days ago.

Totally fault free and is one awesome machine!

What's something I can download to test out the 3D capabilities of the video card?

My i7 was delivered on 04 Dec. I haven't shut it down since I first turned it on that day. (Sleep only) I love it! No yellow tinge, No HD noise, etc. In fact it's the quietest Mac I've ever had.

I have had a few screen flickers; however, nothing like on some of the videos posted here and there on this site. I'm not going to replace it unless it really starts blacking out and flickering like some of the videos.

Had my i7 12gb since 1st week Nov and I'm really liking it.

No problems at all. None. Zilch.

It's super fast at loading apps, transcoding audio and compressing vids. It's super, super quiet with only audible fan noise when pushing itself crazy in Handbrake. It warms up a little but nothing out of the ordinary considering there's a quad core processor pretty much fused onto an aluminium case.

Loving the gloss screen even though I have an enormous window with blinds 15ft behind me. You tend to focus beyond any glare and the display is so bright and vivid that it's really not an issue.

Mighty Mouse is still going strong and I'm still enjoying it. Not sure how it will do under more demanding working conditions though - I can see some element of wrist strain coming into play. The keyboard is fantastic and responsive as well and barely touches the batteries.

Yes I can hear the hard drive a little but again, this sounds perfectly normal to me. Ideally I wouldn't hear it but it is mechanical and sits around 30cm from my face so I can't see that happening. Once SSD's are more affordable I'll whack two inside and be done with mechanical drives.

Loving the power management of the iMac as well - I enjoy how the screen dims regularly and the way you can set a hot corner to turn off the display. I'm one of these people who puts my machine in standby even when going to have a dump so I really appreciate it being super responsive when it comes to going into and coming out of standby. Having had years of non responsive Windows machines that just don't wake up/go to sleep/crash etc when going into standby it's a refreshing change.

Like I said - loving it.
