Just bought my MBA 13 today and this looks really nice. A little pricey but whats another 50 bucks right?

I think it cheapens the look personally. I take good care of my laptops so all I really need is a small carrying case for when I'm lugging it around.

What's the point of a hard shell case? I'm not being sarcastic, I don't understand what they protect. Clearly there's no drop protection.

Scratches (and dent protection to some degree).

I'm not a fan.

It's just protection from scratches. I'm pretty rough on my laptops and my old MBP didn't look too great after awhile so I'm contemplating something like this for my new MBA. I purchased vinyl lid protection but this would obviously be more protection. They do make them in clear, and the black one doesn't look too bad, but I'd have to see it in person.

I'm sceptical. I could never find a Speck that fitted my MBP, although it is probably my MBP's weird size imperfections as the Incase shell I replaced the Speck with doesn't fit either (in different places). Both have scratched my MBP and both were lint and grit magnets.

My mac is already wrapsol'd. i don't see a reason for the hard case. The case is like .4 lbs. I got the speck seethru satin for my MBP cause i didn't get wrapsol or anything for it.

How thick are these? Do they scuff the MBAs in anyway? Why are they so expensive (for what seems to be two pieces of plastic)?

I had the speck case for my MBP. it scuffed up the sides where the clips lock in. Cause i kept taking it on and off. and the thing chipped off.

I don't know about you guys, but this "case" pretty much denies the sexiness of the Air. It's like having a hot chic dress way too conservatively. Call me crazy...

More like a hot chic in a hot dress who then puts a floor length smock on and buttons it up to her neck.

Does the MBA 2010 need a hardcase? I've got the 11 inch model, and the screen is so thin, I'm afraid that if I put any excess pressure on it while carrying it around, the metal will dent or warp and damage the screen. Is this something that should be protected with a hardcase? Or is it pretty durable? I was considering just getting a skin or wrapsol, but now I don't know..

You will not dent or warp the screen by carrying a naked MBA around. It's made of aluminum, not aluminum foil.

thanks. I just question the MBAs durability because of it's thinness. I know it's probably built solid, but it feels so fragile.

Hard case will scratch your MBA when dust get in. A good sleeve with padding is all you need.

Really? I think it merely looks fragile due to it's size but I think it feels pretty darn solid.
