Speck clear case for 11" MBA - Awesome case!

My Speck case came this morning!

It's an amazing case. I got the clear/white one so it shows off the baby MBA. It's light and has a nice grip when you pick it up.

It's very slim. 7 ounces in weight. Adds no bulk to the MBA. It just seems like it grabs the top and bottom of the MBA. Snaps in place. Seems to attach very solidly actually. When you pick up the MBA in the case, the surface is grippy. Does not feel too slippery. The clear one is nice because it does not hide the attributes of the MBA. Also, when you open the MBA the bottom stays down on the surface. It does not lift up like it did sometimes before. Very nice case. Not cheap, but none of them are!

cool! sounds great... ive never seen the speck case before, just went to the apple store to check out existing ones... so its like a piece of hard plastic that snaps on?

i really wanna avoid scratches on the outside, as i notice a faint scratch on the backside of the laptop just from resting so im guessing over time scratches could be a problem...

does the plastic feel cheap? would the clear version scratch easily over time?

The plastic does not feel cheap. It's just for 50 bucks there isn't much of it...but that is what I wanted. I suppose it could scratch depending what it comes into contact with but I'm careful so I do not worry about that. I'm impressed with how it fits the MBA like a glove.

Yes, it's hard plastic. Designed well.

I'm also interested in seeing some pictures of the clear case. The only bad things I've heard about the colored satin cases is they tend to look dirty pretty quickly and show fingerprints but I imagine the clear one eliminates some of that.

I like the black one, it doesn't show the little white Apple glowing. I'm never really comfortable using my MBP in public, because these little glowing apples almost scream 'Expensive laptop! Grab me and run!' to the less moral citizens Especially on a busy commuter train.

A case like this would be great camouflage. I might get one if I do end up getting a MacBook Air.

Yes, it's hard plastic. Designed well.

Do you think the plastic top part will allow the LCD screen to withstand more pressure? My concern is the MBA in my book bag, with books pushing the LCD onto the keyboard. I've had light spots develop on my other laptops due to this, and I want to know if you think this product will help avoid it.

i just received my speck protective case - shipped to canada within 2 days (right after ordering!!)

i have to say the price i paid is a small price for something that will protect your laptop from dings and scratches (or most of them)

i have the speck case for my 17" (1+ yr) and i have to say speck is pretty reliable and slick.

should definitely check them out if you're considering to get a protective shell.

i added the qbn.com sticker btw.

They really need to step it up. Now, both the clear and black are sold out. Black has been sold out for over a week now. Come out with new colors or something. They should have been expected this.

Shipping / handling cost was $14.57 usd (to toronto).
Everything came to $64.52 usd - I heard the Apple store are carrying them now but they're selling really quickly (you should give them a call to double check)

Anyone comment on if the Satin attracts lint and dust? I'm using a Brenthaven sleeve and it has that furriness to the inside. I really like the satin look more, but if it attracts lint I will probably end up getting the clear. Thoughts?

$59 + shipping.
