Hey guys..
Just got a MacBook today, already bought some more RAM for it and now I need to upgrade that 60GB Hard Drive. Just a quick question..the MacBook does use standard 2.5" Laptop HDD size, right?

Thanks!

2.5" SATA harddrives.
A bit to clarify. 2.5 SATA ONLY. Nothing else will work. There are a lot of 2.5 ATA HDD in the market since most laptops use them instead(including PB,iBook). You`ll need a 2.5" SATA HDD 9.5 cm long.

So this would work? Somebody told me it wouldn't, but it's SATA

Anyone know when the Seagate Barricuda 7200 160GB is coming out? And price?

and make sure you have a T6 Torx screwdriver to take the drive out of the bay or you will be stuck with the current drive.

i'm pretty sure the macbook hard drive removal involves no screws or screwdrivers, other than the one needed to remove the bracket covering the hard drive and memory slots.

to remove the bracket, an ordinary phillips head should be fine no? or do i need to get a smaller phillips head?

thanks

i'm going to say it's safe to say the MBP needs 2.5 sata right?

i was looking at this:

would these work for the notebook (i'm not sure - they seem awfully cheap) so it leads me to think these are for bigger bays...

thanks

Edit: i'm basically looking for a driver over 100gb (maybe around 120-160gB). i currently have the 80gb drive so I don't want to upgrade to the 100gb because that's not much of a difference, ya know? I'd like to make it worth more than jsut 20gb :)

heh, i figured it was too cheap to be true. do you know where I can find some 2.5 (assuming thats what MBP's use too) that are over 120gb?

I believe there's only one such drive currently available (at 160 GB), but it's 4200 rpm...it'll be painfully slow. There will be some good options coming on the market soon though.

i found these - it's a sata 2.5 but it says platform / pc - would it still work for the mbp?
