Do NOT work with El Capitan

From BearExtender support guy

The problem is not simple code we could quickly change, it comes from an incompatible Kernel extension that is provided by the chipset maker, and the chip was discontinued so they won’t release a new kernel extension. We are still trying to find some sort of workaround but have not been able to yet.

Is there a list of supposedly supported hardware that in reality doesn't support 10.11.x yet?

Nvidia's list of supported GPUs in their latest driver indicate that support is limited to only a few of their GPUs used in macs. My 2012 Macbook pro with a GT 650M chip should work with 10.11 according the release info, but any app that require some form of accelerated graphics has either slowed to a crawl or crashes.

Hence my list of unsupported hardware begins with:
Nvidia Geforce GT 650M

My dongle Huawei E3251 was not working with El Capitan public beta releases.
Does anyone know, if the problem stands with the GM version? In the past Huawei released its own new drivers, but weeks after the GM has been released.

So I guess I'm SOL with installing El Capitan to my Mac Mini 2012 model as I tried and it gets almost the the end and crashes.

Do you think Apple will fix the issue or I'll just either have to upgrade to a new mac mini?

It is only a driver issue so I'm confident they will fix it. Anything else would give them seriously bad rep. What I find most surprising is that this hasn't been sorted at the time of release. It's not just a few odd models that have been left in the cold, but entire model-lines of fairly recent machines.

I'm VERY VERY dissapointed as now I have to revert back to Yosemite and I guess wait and hopefully sites such as this will inform us that the release is now working properly. I can't believe Apple would release something like this as my upgrade on my laptop to Win 10 went smoothly without any hitches!

I've personally upgraded 3 2012 Mac Minis without any problems at all. The good news is that you don't need a new Mini, but you will need to try to diagnose your problem if you intend to use 10.11.

I have no idea what my problem would be. Could it be a DVD drive or external drive connected that could cause the problem?

It's not impossible, and simple enough to remove them when you install. It's also possible that it's a conflict with some software you have installed in the computer.

Apple still supports the 650M, so whether Nvidia directly does or not is irrelevant, and it is still working fine for most people.
Do you have a Retina Macbook Pro? If so, it may be having a hardware failure: https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/

No, it's a regular 2012 15" macbook. It runs GL-apps just fine with Mavericks. Performance dropped a little with Yosemite, and took a dive with ElCap. It still runs fine if I feed it a disk with Mavericks.

The only Nvidia driver specifically built for ElCap only support GTX680, GTX285, GT120, 8800GT, Quadro K5000 for Mac, Quadro 4000 for Mac, Quadro FX 4800 and Quadro FX 5600. Not a single mobile series GPU is listed as supported.

Right, but Nvidia does not write the drivers that come with the operating system. Nvidia's web drivers have never supported the mobile GPUs that come in Apple laptops.
For reference here's the link to Nvidia's web driver that was for 10.9.5: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/77751/en-us
The same cards are supported as with the Nvidia El Capitan web driver.

The Nvidia driver are already included in OS X. The web version is just for the old Mac Pro where you could buy a third-party graphic card.

No problems here on my late 2012 Mac Mini.

If it is included it doesn't seem to work very well. 2D apps that use OpenGL for scaling of UI-elements seem particularly hard hit. I've noticed that Apple put a lot of effort into Metal, but there is no mention in any release-notes that existing APIs have been crippled to the extent this looks like. That is what makes me assume there is a driver problem.

Dunno, OpenGL on my AMD graphic card is a little faster. But a performance regression on a particular gpu is possible.

I have successfully installed El Capitan on both a 2012 Mac mini and a 2010 Mac mini no problems at all. Not sure what you are expecting Apple to fix.
