the irony is that at least you have a choice. apple's walled garden approach is far from offering as open of choices as Android. besides, no one here is telling you your choice is wrong. it's just pretty much the same as other iphone users because you all really have limited choices. but hey, that's not a problem if iphones users are good with it. Apple's twisted version of Stockholm syndrome ?
I have the same choices that you have. I simply choose to use iOS. The 6 Plus fits perfect for me, since I don't own a tablet.
Sorry I don't subscribe to the Samsung method of "every screen size under the sun in .1 inch increments is a good choice" mentality.
I use my phone as I want, and don't really pay attention to the "walled garden" as you put it. The apps that I choose to put on it, would be the same exact apps that I would put on it if I had Android or Windows Phone, so there's no difference there.

Gotta be in it to win it
feel free to keep bringing them. haven't backed down from one yet. it always helps though when the person I'm debating with actually owns the device though.

Ah so it's not enough to try out a device multiple times. To post in this thread you actually have to like the device enough to buy it. Got it.

I don't back down either, but in this case you win, android is superior, apples customers are sheep, iPhones are overpriced, IOS is restrictive, Apple is overvalued and is due for a correction and will fall into bankruptcy next year as isheep realize how much they've been had.

So iPhones offer choices of waterproofness, installing micro sd cards, higher resolution cameras, better screens, phones with a stylus?, etc. My point is you don't really have a choice as most all iPhones are the same. Even the Plus is nothing more than a big iPhone. They are all made by one company too. Sony lovers can choose their phones if they wish, etc.

you don't pay attention to it because you have no choice. use both extensively and you'll see what I mean. There are things android can do that iOS doesn't that of course if you've never had them or choose not to use them won't be of value to you. lots of people make due with what they have. that's natural. iPhone peeps lived without lots of the latest iOS upgrades including widgets and smoother notifications too but it doesn't mean they weren't valuable. Ironically every time such changes are made they become the most talked about things around. Irony lives in the fact that you own a Plus when for years such BIG android phones were laughed at by many here. Now they are the rage in iOS Land.

Not at all, but if I "tried out an iOS device" multiple times but didn't own one, would I carry as much credibility as someone who actually owns and uses two current OS Devices?

All of the options you listed can easily be added via 3rd party accessories - one of the other choices i have by going with Apple. Unlike you, I'm not stuck with a single company telling me that I need to buy the flagship device to get all of that, since I get to CHOOSE which options I want to buy and which I don't.
And I do have the choice. I can jailbreak the iPhone if I really wanted to, but I don't see the need anymore. As for Android, IMHO it is finally catching up to where iOS has been since the beginning, but once you tack on an OEM skin, you drop back, depending on the OEM. Stock Android is the best way to go, but in order to get that, you have to go Nexus, GPE or root and flash a ROM. Been there, done that, not doing it again, for the same reason that I don't jailbreak. Each one of those Android "choices" come with tradeoffs as well, but it seems that Android users don't like to be told this.
I'll just stay in my "walled garden". Thanks for trying to change my mind, but as I said, I've been down the Android road before and I wasn't happy with it.

somehow you and several others really like the ride the coat tails of a company's financials as if that's benefiting you as a user of their device.

Someone wake up all the Fire Phone users and tell them not to be so bummed that their phone is sucking wind because the financial success of Amazon will somehow enhance their experience and make their phone better and their choice somehow less painful over time.

Really? I'd love to see a waterproof case on an iP6 function and look as nice and slim as a Sony. I'd also love to see a stylus option for your plus. I'm sure the apps supporting it are great. I won't hold my breath for the storage expansion slot though. I also am not stuck with any one single company. Again, there are several really nice models and manufacturers of Android flagship devices out there.

Jailbrake and rooting...ah yes, the good old days of fun and stability. great option. let me know how that works out for you. Android catching up with iOS...nice. I needed that chuckle. In terms of OEM skins, there's very little left of even TW on my Note 3. Could care less that it's off in the background not doing anything as I've long since replaced it with other better options.

Been there, done that, not doing it again, for the same reason that I don't jailbreak. Each one of those Android "choices" come with tradeoffs as well, but it seems that Android users don't like to be told this.

Tradeoffs haven't impacted me yet. Makes no difference on the Note 3. In fact the changes I've made have removed any "lag" or animation drag that many comment about.

I'll just stay in my "walled garden". Thanks for trying to change my mind, but as I said, I've been down the Android road before and I wasn't happy with it.

not here to try and change your mind. wouldn't even think an attempt to do so would be remotely possible or fun.

Just as it is incredibly patronizing for an Android fan to tell me that my choice is the wrong choice, when they don't know me and simply generalize what I do.

There's no wrong/right in Android, you can do what you want, that's the meaning of choice and that's the whole point. On iOS you are stuck with what Apple thinks everyone needs.

Really?

And yet, you continually try and sell me on Android. Weird how you don't see that as trying to change my mind.
If you really didn't care, you'd simply say "use what you like." Instead, you just want to be condescending.
I guess I shouldn't expect anymore from someone in this forum though. Android users are the new cult.

if I wanted to change your mind, I'd ask probing questions and have you over come your own objections. Notice, I'm not going down that path.

If you really didn't care, you'd simply say "use what you like." Instead, you just want to be condescending.

I really don't care what OS or phone you or others use. again, not here to "sell" or ask questions, so if you take statements as condescending then perhaps you have thin skin. However in some cases, you probably are reading the comments correctly. Read the same everyday from iOS fans....and BTW I am a fan of iOS too.

I guess I shouldn't expect anymore from someone in this forum though. Android users are the new cult.

Apple peeps being the original cult? I agree. Welcome to the forum scene. It's like this everywhere.

Because it is one way of showing that tens of millions of people think differently than you do

and I still struggle with the fact that so many people thought Oskar Schindler was a criminal back in the day.

and I still struggle with the fact that so many people followed Adolf and his grand ideas too

Said by the man marching to the drum of Google and their "free" OS, Android. While Apple is trying to get to the first billion, Google is already working on the 2nd. And somehow, you see Apple users as the sheep?
And Godwin's law is now in effect.

You mean the same Apple who is so cash rich and controlling of their users by walling in their OS because they want it made clear they are the ones in control not their customers?

Much like another thread on here, I'm done with this one. IT's pretty clear what you are after, and it's not an actual debate.
This thread should end now, just because of your Hitler comparison.

Which I've noticed has now been edited. I guess he realised he'd gone too far. However, I agree, there's nothing of value being added to this thread now.

To sum it up, plenty of people think iOS is far ahead of Android, and plenty of people think Android is far ahead of iOS. Isn't being able to think for ourselves marvellous?

then state IT. still waiting to hear about your 3rd party accessories too, but hey, you must still be looking up some of them.

I didn't go too far, I just didn't want to make it too bluntly a political thread as that tends to make people cry and get all rear-end hurt around here.

To sum it up, plenty of people think iOS is far ahead of Android, and plenty of people think Android is far ahead of iOS.

True. Now I suppose us Android folks will all go be together while the iOS folks will continue to be the same.

Only we all have different phones for specific reasons and have said phones customized to match our exact needs. Including different core apps that Android allows us to change. Really there's likely more differences than similarities. However my iPad Air is likely 90% the sames as the others here.
