Well that certainly would be an un-Apt reference. Generic Drugs are only usually made when the patent expires on the Drug.

You are right that generic drugs are only available when off patent. There is no "thievery" involved. The concept is: There are inventors like Apple and the brand name drug companies and those who copy others innovations.

There is no copying or thievery involved in patent infringement. And drug patents are quite different from software patents and design patents.

The analogy is dumb to begin with.

Every company copies.

Apple copied Androids notification bar.
Apple bought Siri rather than create their own implementation.

Apple don't really invent anything, they're a recipe company.

To the OP. No.

I buy the tool that does the job I need it to doi don't care who makes it. Right now I think the s3 is the best phone on the market. Will get even better with updates imo. So its what I bought.

those phones just don't interest me so I will not nor have I ever looked at one

Wow! What an open mind you have. I guess your indoctrination is complete.

Agreed. A patent infringement of a pharmaceutical is not subjective. They can get a lab and test chemical composition. Software patents are totally subjective.

Also, to continue the analogy, recently it is less do do with Apple suing companies because their pill contains the same drug and more to do with them suing because their competitor's pills are round and flat. :D

I have boycotted Samsung products since I purchased my first iPhone last year and have become an Apple "Fanboy."

Apple is moving ahead the electronics industry in innovation that we all benefit from, including Samsung.

I see Samsung like a generic Pharmaceutical Drug Company copying others hard work to make an inferior product that sells for less.

Really? I won't debate that Samsung has copied Apple in some areas as it is obvious. However, an inferior product? Not a chance. The iPhone is a very very good phone, but the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Nexus are completely up to par, if not better. I know the new iPhone will probably include this, but these Samsung phones already have LTE and NFC. I also feel these devices handle notifications better than iPhone.

:pNot I. I actualy got my old parent of mine to get the Samsung Galaxy 4g (before Samasung Galaxy S2 was released). It's a decent phone, just the battery life on it bites. Going to try the new kies media manager, just hope it supports older phones.

Here it is http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

BTW, their is no denying that Sammy totally copied itunes app on this one.

So you'd refuse to buy a Samsung TV, even though they're some of the best? Never buy a Samsung refrigerator? Or Kettle or Microwave by Samsung? How far do you go? If you're looking at buying or renting a place do you research to see if the building was built by Samsung building equipment?

I am not that fanatic. I noticed the other day the telephone system in my office is Samsung. I remember realizing this and being shocked. But now a days I will try to avid all Samsung products as much as posible as I have learned some very troubling history of the company in general. Samsung is run by not nice people who don't deserve to do well.

That was what I was going to say. I personally think that in boycotting Samsung you are depriving yourself more; Samsung couldn't care less.
If you've bought an Apple product recently, chances are you've incidentally bought Samsung hardware.

THANK YOU! Clearly this kid has absolutely NO idea to what depth Samsung products exist in our daily lives even as Apple users.

I bought my iPhone 4 in summer 2011 and it still works. Hence I would not buy any other phone.

But 'if' then I would probably have a closer look at Nokia Lumia 820 (or 920). The OS looks stunningly beautiful to me.

BTW, I find Samsung more innovative. Apple comes out only every 2 years with a new product and we get stuck with the old stuff for ages. iOS has the same design since 2007. With Android you can at least design you screen as YOU like.

Designing your home screen does sound like innovation

Is it just the actions of Samsungs Phone Division that makes you feel this way? Because if so you're eliminating yourself from some of the best appliances, computers, TV's, Blu-Ray players etc.

Yeah purely down to the phone division. They have made me lose respect for the company as a whole.

I know they don't care about poor ol me. :)

I am amazed how fast they can bring out new products. Their product cycle time is lower, they have constantly something new. I have respect for that. Of course, the drawback is that if you have a S2, your phone ain't the latest. They are innovative too. When they came out with the 'Galaxy Note' I thought 'wtf', but I am surprised how many people used it around me.

But for pure beauty I would go with the Nokia Lumia (but I have a working iPhone that must hold till 2013, or longer)

I buy what I feel I need.
I love Apple products but I'm not sworn to them and have bought a HTC One X phone as it suits me better and when the SG Note 2 hits here in the US I will buy one if it is as good as I think it will be.
If Apple would come out with something like this I would buy it too.

I have no dog in the fight between Apple and anyone else neither does it make or cost me anything.
