Has anyone cleaned their Malanese Loop Band in the dishwasher?

I don't understand threads like this. If you conjure up crazy ideas, you need to be the guinea pig. Same thing with other threads like "Has anyone dyed their Sport band with a Rit dye?" and "Have you destroyed this third party band in order to fit the Apple Watch?"
Be the guinea pig and report back to us.
It comes out really clean in the Blender. Putting it back together is another story.
Why in gods name would you run it in the dishwasher? You're either putting it in with dirty dishes (Gross) or wasting a ton of water and energy washing it along to do a job that some warm water and dish soap could do under the sink.

While in theory the band should handle it just fine, considering dishwasher detergent is really corrosive (sodium hydroxide pretty much, mixed with hot water making it even worse) you could end up staining your presumably stainless and really rather expensive steel band. I certainly wouldn't do it, and most other sane people with more brains than money wouldn't either.
Like other guy said, if you have nutball ideas, YOU be the one to try them out, alright?
Also, I have no idea how Apple secured the milanese band to the lug that slots into the Watch itself or the magnetic clasp. If they used glue (and chances are high they did considering almost everything else in the Watch is glued together), dishwasher detergent might wreck it. Also, now that I think about it, there's rubber parts on the clasp and on the lugs as well.

I think we may be being a little too hard on the OP. The main problem people have seems to be that the way the OP was phrased, it sounds like asking for people to be the guinea pig to try out an offbeat idea. But if the question was, "Would a dishwasher be effective in cleaning the band? Could it harm the band in any way?" -- well, some people might still deride the OP for having a stupid idea, but to me, it doesn't sound all that stupid a question.

part of me looks at it like a stupid question because I know what the detergent does to SS..... however, knowing a lot of the demographics on this site are kids..... I guess they wouldn't have the experience in that.... soooooo i'll give him a break! not a dumb question.... you don't ask.... you don't know.... (I didn't get the impression he was asking someone else to do it....)
Yes, exactly. I've never had a dishwasher, so although I was aware that it isn't recommended to wash SS objects in one, I didn't know it was due to the detergent being too harsh. So if someone doesn't have that information, it's like, a dishwasher gets dishes clean, why wouldn't it get the band clean, too?
I have some expensive stainless steel pans that came with warnings not to put them in the dishwasher, so I think it would not be a good idea for the milanese band either.
My brother once used dishwasher detergent to wash his car. It totally striped all the shiny finish off of the car. He could not get it back even after several coats of wax and buffing.
