The iPad Air and 10.5” iPad Pro displays aren’t exactly the same, so that theory doesn’t hold up. The thin and relatively large form factor probably allows for the display getting squeezed just enough to cause the damage, though.I think the air 3 was Apple just clearing out the 10.5 screens they had from the 10.5 pros.. I don’t think we will see the air updated again but who knows.
Hmm, wonder if these issues aren’t as widespread as originally thought?
same here.Got my iPad Air 3 last April when it released. So exactly a year.
Nothing yet fingers crossed.

I even dropped a remote control on the back of my 10.5 Pro, which caused a dent, and I still have no spots on the display.Well I’ve just went ahead and ordered a current gen Air.
Hoping it’s going to be fine. It’s weird how some people are on their 3rd, 4th iPad and others haven’t had a single issue.
I don’t think that anyone has ever claimed that it is. This issue is unique to the 10.5” models: the 2017 Pro and the 2019 Air 3.I've had an iPad Mini 4 for over three years and no spots or stuttering. Maybe the mini isn't effected?

I took mine into Apple in February to have a non working Smart Keyboard looked at and they replaced it. Asked for any other problems so I pointed out the white spot and they gave me a new iPad as well. Is the UK though so I think different rules apply.Have the problem with my 10.5 purchased in 2017, anyone managed to persuade Apple to repair one outside of warranty.
It was. Smart Keyboard and iPad Pro 10.5 from 2017, new iPad Pro 10.5 manufacture date Nov 2019, so very pleased. Was the iPad replaced with the same model Cepenpark? I’m based in the uk also.
