After installing the HS combo update I tried another go at Mojave PB and this time it installed. But it took nearly 2 1/2 hours. loco!
first time I logged in the Mac froze at "choose your look." rather, the mouse froze and no keys worked.
so I turned it off and on and this time it let me in without a "choose your look" prompt.
everything seems good now.

Trying to download and install Mojave PB as I write this, without much luck.

I was able to download what looks to be the "helper" app (which launches and presents the main installer screen), but I click through the installer to get it going, and it's currently displaying "about 9 minutes remaining", with NOTHING being downloaded (I can watch the "incoming activity" on my ethernet switch).

It's like the remote server isn't responding.
Have quit and retried a few times, all the same.

Anyone else having Mojave download problems, Wed. mid-morning?

I'm wondering if there's a direct link that downloads the full installer?
Certainly not "published" by Apple, but... still there?
I don't know if you are still having troubles, but I downloaded the beta and it actually is running pretty smoothly. Took about 30 minutes, and just finished.

I did have one glitch when it was trying to finalize the settings after installation where my trackpad and keyboard weren't working, so I had to restart but after that everything seems to be working fine.

Mine did this too, had to reboot and then it worked for me as well.

I have so far not been able to download the installer for the public beta.

So... sometimes you have to "travel a different path".
I did this:
1. Cloned a copy of my High Sierra drive (not my main computer drive) to a partition on another hard drive
2. Found a site (non-Apple) on the web that has the original developer beta of Mojave and downloaded it. It downloaded as a "full" installer (roughly 6gb).
3. Put the installer into the Applications folder and ran it.
4. Took a while, but it installed Mojave "over" the existing High Sierra OS, it's now up and running (typing on it now).
5. I thought this was the "first" developer beta, so I tried to update it through the software update pref pane. HOWEVER, software update reports "no updates" available.

Hmmmmm....
The build number of the install I have is 18A293u.

Questions:
- For those of you running developer beta 2, what is the build number?
- For those of you running the "public" beta, what is the build number?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
For some reason, after a while I re-checked the software update pref pane and now "developer beta 2" shows up.
Ran it and it gave me build 18A314h.

Just installed on my MacPro 5,1 with a flashed GTX680 (PNY reference card pulled from a Dell). Everything went without a single hitch. Downloaded from AppStore, installer wanted to do a firmware update and I let it. After it came back up, the installer went on it's merry way, and after about 30 mins, voila!

For those wondering, I downloaded it using the beta access tool application on my 2012 MacBook Air, and then installed the Public Beta on an SSD formatted with APFS. Seems to work just fine so far.

Installed the PB on an external SSD using my iMac and am now running it on either the iMac or the MacBook. So far it seems to be working perfectly fine on both.

It took me just shy of 20 minutes to do a clean install using a bootable USB drive. Although I must admit that at first I was a bit skeptical about the stability because of all the flickering prior to the installation (disk utility and first couple minutes of the installation the screen was acting up quite a bit), but now it is running butter smooth.
Cheers!
