In my opinion, GC is lots faster than S4. It launches faster, loads pages faster and doesn't crash 3 times a day like S4 does. It runs so well, I took S4 off of the dock!:eek:

So, have you replaced Safari 4 with Google Chrome?
 
Safari 4 runs just fine for me. I tried Chrome for a little bit and it did not seem any faster, plus 1Password does not seem to plugin to it so that's a deal-breaker (although I have no doubt that'll change).
 
Chromium is severely lacking in many features but it does things smoother than Safari/Webkit does for me. I still have Webkit in the dock but I almost never load it up. I've grown to FF recently but it's my alternate identity browser for junk and games mostly.
 
No, I prefer Safari on my Mac over any other browser, Firefox included. Other browsers run so slow! But on my PC I have Google Chrome and Firefox (instead of IE), I use Firefox more though. I never really "got into" Google Chrome.
 
Google Chrome is faster and it handles tabs and media better to Safari.

But no Evernote and 1Password make it impossible to use. I have got the bookmarks to sync with my iPhone using XMarks, that's huge!
 
I use Firefox on my Mac instead of Safari. Google Chrome is still fairly incomplete on the Mac but it's a nice contender on my PC (between it and Firefox)

You do know Chrome uses Webkit too, don't you?
 
Along the same lines as Opera. I really like the browser, but no 1P support is a deal breaker.

Won't even consider using it until it supports 1Password.

Very well aware. When I say WebKit I'm referring to the nightly builds on www.webkit.org.

Just to list some examples of things that bug me in Chromium: can't organise bookmarks (like, at all), the bookmarks menu lists your bookmark bar, history menu is rather useless, embedded quicktime video's don't really load properly (tested that on apple's video's), Chrome's special pages don't work (about:memory etc).
 
I don't have any problems with Safari 4, but I am checking out Google Chrome. It's pretty nice. I used to use Firefox, but I really don't like it anymore. I only use FF when I need to use an add on for something.
 
Right now, Firefox reigns supreme on Mac OS X. But I use Google Chrome in Windows (on bootcamp) and I may give it a try on Mac OS X once there is a stable release.
 
The latest builds of Chrome are pretty nice and web browsing is definitely fast.

But.

There are a lot of bugs, random window redraws, floating tabs, and my wonderful bookmarklets don't work. Oh well.

Once it is release, I will definitely definitely give it a go again.

Just wanted to get this out there...does anyone get this seemingly random application switching when clicking on pages in Chrome? Not sure if this happens when you click rapidly in a short burst, but Chrome will very occasionally switch to a random app (maybe the most recently active one).
 
The lowest common denominator for browsing on OS X is Flash. Safari suffers badly, other browsers not so much. Safari is furthermore documented as being very poor for battery life.

Chrome is my browser of choice on Win 7 (it's DAMN fast), and I'm shifting to it on my Mac.
 
I have just downloaded the Beta (nightly builds or whatever they are) and I like it more than safari. It feels so much more lightweight, the only annoying thing that I have found is that you cannot arrange bookmarks!
 
I do think we'll see of speed tweaks in the Gecko layout engine for Mozilla products fairly soon. Reason: the competition from browsers that use the Webkit layout engine, namely Google Chrome and Apple Safari. I use Google Chrome 3.0.195.27 in Windows 7 Home Premium and the rendering speed on most web pages is amazingly fast.

I'm hopeful that Google will offer a final, stable release of Chromium for MacOS X 1.5.x and 1.6.x soon.
 
Tell me, How do I run Chrome on my Mac. When I download the "Mac" version it has a thing over it meaning it will not run.
