It is amazing to read so many of you got rid of your iPads to get the MBA. Is it the competitive pricing. Are any of you prospective iPad buyers now going for a MBA?
Not a "killer" at all!!!! These two products compliment each other and just grow the halo effect!
That GIANT sucking sound is people being pulled into Apple stores.
cheers

One of the things that made the iPad really interesting was the new kinds of on-the-go, location aware applications mostly inherited from the iPhone. For the most part these applications are not available for the MBA yet. However, I have to believe that future MBAs will get a GPS and even start using WIFI pseudo-GPS in the interim.
Personally, I'm not a big iOS fan. I have a webOS phone that is much more Mac-like than iOS. I've been using MacOS ever since MacOS 7.0 was released, so the Air is much more appealing to me. However, I would like to get the iOS kind of apps running on MacOS. That would be the best of both worlds.
The iPad and MBA are generally complimentary, although I am sure there is some substitution effect in both directions.
The iPad needs a computer to maintain it, sync it, back it up, etc and while its a great consumption device (reading, looking, watching, listening) its much weaker when it comes to production. Sure you can take some notes or markup a document or even produce light weight work products but its not good at significant production due to limited interface, limited multitasking and capacity, limited software etc.
The MBA is a fully functioning computer you can use all day ling for heavy production tasks (talking business tasks here not generating CGI movies) in a very small and light package not much bigger than an iPad (at least in the case of the 11.6" model).
I'll continue to use my iPad for many consumption tasks, particularly long duration ones (10 hours beats 5 hours) along with light production tasks like meeting notes, emails etc, but the MBA is a great travel computer when you need to produce significant content as its a full functioning computer with good multitasking, multiple windows, full featured programs etc.
iPad Killer.......
OMG how I hate that name!

Funny how the majority of people on here say they would never give up their iPad for a MBA, don't even own a MBA (yet).
Are you mixing this thread with another? The title of the thread is "Has MBA turned out to be an iPad Killer?"Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)
