I've tried using Flipboard for years, but just can't get comfortable with the UI. It's distracting to me. I'm a regular Zite user though. I think Apple News will be great based on what I've seen of it. I'm looking forward to it.

They have to apply and get approved by Apple. Publishers can already start singing up.

Meh. I guess it's no different than how current Newsstand apps need to be approved by Apple, but I was hoping we could sort of bypass this by adding our own feeds. I'm sure I'll still use this all the time - I've been looking for something like this - but still...

I personally will be dropping the it as soon as News comes out. It looks like a really convincing app. The real question is whether or not Notes killed "Evernote." After being on the beta for three days now and using Notes, I can say it is fantastic. So much in fact that I deleted Evernote and have not missed it.

It aggravates me so much how so many new features are so country specific, although I live in Australia and will have access to this app, us Australians have a lot of experience in being ripped off in the digital age. Especially an App like this that has no reason to be tied down to any specific country. Other features such as Apple Pay surely can't be that hard if they just spend a minute sum of their money to send delegates to banks in other countries.

I use to love Zite until flipboard bought them out and stopped updating the app. I tried flipboard. But it takes to many steps to switch sections... And I preference the scrolling style of Zite... The iPad version of flipboard is horrible to switch topics... Right now I'm using feedly. I hope Apple news is as simple as Zite was

Sometimes you want it organised. Not everyone uses a Mac and therefore doesn't visit all the pages in their iPhone/iPad where a username and password is required
I see the cross multi-OS issue. but other than that the only difference I can spot is 1Password allows for more than username and password. like drivers license, insurance etc… more versatile I guess.

I think that the News app failed but not providing landscape mode for iPhone 6 plus. And I also cannot delete the preset news sites that apple put on for everyone on the app. Other than that it could be good.

Exactly. In my LastPass Vault I've got all sorts of things from utility account numbers, insurance details and other important house related data that if my property burned down I'd still know key details and dates for things.

I still use Flipboard daily and have been trying to use News but have not yet been able to get it customized to show what I want to read like I have with Flipboard. It takes time to learn and News needs a better way of saying I like a story or I don't like a story.

I still love Flipboard, and hope it survives. If, for anything, that its an independent app on multi-platforms. And it works great.

While I super-love Apple, I just don't think that Apple needs to force-include the News app as part of our ever-bloating iOS releases.

[EDIT: It appears that Apple will now allow us to delete most ANY of its installed apps. This is a huge departure from the inherent way iOS has always been! Starts with iOS9?]

Apple News may be super-awesome. But it worries me that Apple may one day contract the Nintendo-syndrome: where Nintendo makes such stellar games that third-parties have trouble writing for the platform because they are viewed as subpar. Then the third-parties stop writing for the platform and so Nintendo has pretty much become a victim of its own success.

That's not a good situation for Apple, third-parties or ourselves as consumers of the platform.

But, Google tried its hand at a news-mag type app, and it failed. Apple may also; who knows!
