My girlfriend's Siri hasn't been working but my phone works fine. Sitting side by side mine works every time but I couldn't get hers to work at all, Siri kept saying she was having trouble connecting to the network. I reset the network settings then I reset all settings but still had no success. Finally I restored her iPhone and Siri worked fine. However once I restored settings from a backup of her itouch Siri suddenly left again. I restored again and manually put all songs and apps on there, this setup is working right now except the phone doesn't have any of the app data from her itouch.

Go into settings, and reset the network...fixed Siri for me

Thanks. Good to know.

It happened to me too. I'd just tried to restart the phone twice before Siri worked again. But I dont really know what fixed the problem.

I will try resetting the network if this happens again.

Siri is working for me but he (uk) won't remember my relationships. I say "Vicki is my girlfriend", he adds the relationship but when I say "call my girlfriend" he says he doesn't know who my girlfriend is? I also can't find any option in the contact to set it manually. Could this be because my contacts are via exchange (google)?

Yeah, kind of pathetic that one of the selling points of the 4S was Siri and its not even working 24 hours in....

Even when it does work, it doesn't work as advertised. Must have told it 20 times who my wife is and yet it keeps asking.

We had a problem with Siri last night, and I figured it was too much traffic using it at once.

My wife and I still had a problem with it this morning. I tried resetting the network connections and the router and it still just wouldn't work.

I went into Settings, turned Siri off and soft reset the phone. When it came back, I went into Settings and turned it back on and it worked just fine.

Hope that helps someone. :)

Frustrating. You can also update your contact entry.

Contacts > <your entry> > edit > add field > related people.

I've sussed it, it doesn't work if your own contact card is an exchange contact card, it must be an iCloud one. I've re-created myself in iCloud and it works now. When i told him who my girlfriend was he kept adding her as an assistant!!

Now, how to move all my contacts from exchange to icloud...?

Siri and voice dictation would not work for me at all. My wife's phone was fine every time. I tried to reset network settings, no help.

I ended up restoring my phone and setting up as new. I did not restore the backup from my iP4. Works great now.

Maybe because my iP4 was JB. But things are fine now.

Gently rub her microphone icon in tiny little circles and she'll be your best friend forever...

This is because you are not using iCloud. When using gmail contacts for example you can't say girlfriend or mother. I started a thread about this. It's a limitation of not using iCloud for contacts.

So Siri relies on a server to do even basic things?

That is a load of crap.

How are you supposed to dictate then when you are out and don't have data?

I am not disappointed now that I do not have a 4S.

In a house...duh!
Maybe this has been said....but every nimrod on the face of the earth that got an iPhone 4s yesterday is asking it stupid crap like how much wood would a wood chuck chuck and how big is my little smokie?

If you were the server you would feel just a tad overwhelmed too.....and probably grossed out. :D

In a few days the newness will wear off and it will work just fine.

As much as we would like Apple and AT&T to build infrastructure to support one day crazy events like an iOS launch or 2 million people trying to activate phones....it just isn't financially viable.
