It was the other way around for me.

I used to be a hardcore PC user...even used to watercool them. Hell I even made the first wallmounted-watercooled computer too a few years back.

But then the Mac mini came out and it piqued my curiosity. I got one and used it to browse the internet while waiting to raid/pauses in WoW. I started using it for everything not related to gaming mainly because of the security.

Once the intel thing came around, I jumped on a Mac Pro and now only boot into Vista for games that I can't play on the OSX side (such as Eve-online).

Due to this experience I was very enthusiastic about the iphone, but coming from a blackberry 8700 and 8800 I didn't think it would do what I needed it to do. When I went to the store, I played with one for 10 minutes and had to walk out with it. Great replacement to my BB 8800 so far!

Oh heck yes! After a taste of the iPhone my husband and I decided to go all in and ordered a 15" MacBook Pro (Apple stores around us all sold out) on the educators deal w/ a 30GB iPod and free printer. We also took advantage of the $25 off MS Office software. What's taking so long with the shipping??? We can't wait any longer!

We've been a PC only household since DOS and now can't wait to switch all of our computers! We're a little nervous b/c neither one of us has ever used OSx and know everything about windows... But, we are already looking forward to Leopard! Wish us luck!

Oh, and in response to whether or not any PC users read this forum: absolutely - yes they do!

Thank you to all who have posted and helped convince us the Mac world is where we want to be from now on. We can't wait to spread the word!

At 8pm on iday, my wife and I purchased 2 iphones. I also bought an ipod nano for my daughter (didn't want to leave her out of the fun). On our way out, we looked at the macs, but I'll be honest, they're too expensive and software is too sparse. Besides, we just put $1500 on the debit and wanted to get home to activate our phones.

I'm perfectly happy with my Ubuntu Linux boxes. As a linux fanboy, I'm decidedly anti-windows (even though Bill Gates is a huge investor in my company) and mostly neutral on apple. Apple makes nice stuff, I'm just not as gullible as you guys. ;)

You're a Linux user and are saying that Mac software is sparse? Sorry, but you're betraying your ignorance. The reason I don't use Windows is because the software I use is mostly Mac-only. With OS X you sort of get the best of both worlds. Nearly all Linux software (the vast majority of which is of course open source) can be run on OS X and in most cases it's as easy as using Fink or DarwinPorts. OS X also has tons of really great software sold by small Mac-only developers. These apps are what keep me on "locked in" to OS X. Finally, there are apps like Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, etc that will never be on Linux (natively, not in WINE). Finally, using Parallels and VMWare you can run Windows and Linux under OS X.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Linux fan myself and have used several distros, settling fairly recently on Kubuntu, but a Linux user saying that Mac software is sparse is just kind of funny. Usually that kind of statement comes from Windows users that can't wrap their head around the idea that there are perfectly viable, usable OSs other than Windows.

Yes

Just wondering how many out there have used the iPod and now the iPhone are now thinking about making the "switch"? Thinking about an iMac? MacBook? Maybe a MacBook Pro?

Has the consumer products made you think about checking out the computers? :apple:

I got an ipod then the video ipod then a mac mini, iMac, Macbook Pro, the newer vid ipod, nano, and iphone... so yes it did make me look and then buy...

I would agree, but my sparse software is free, and I get much more than I pay for. Plus it's optimized for any platform I choose (i386, powerPC, Athlon, et al.). I'm not locked into a single vendor for hardware or software (I'm not into the whole socialist computer thing).

In October 2005 I brought home my first Mac, the G5 iMac (rev B) after having become totally disgusted and frustrated with Windows. Fell in love with that iMac and next thing you know I am buying a Powerbook, too... Then I discovered the joys of iTunes and of course just had to have an iPod! Come the new year and suddenly intel-based Macs were available. I bought an MBP to test the waters before eventually taking the plunge and getting the Mac Pro when it became available a few months later. Oh, yeah, they LOVE me at the Apple store! :)

Point being, the wonderful Mac computer led me to the iPod, not the other way around.... and of course, loving my Macs and my iPod, I knew that I would be thrilled with the iPhone, which indeed I am.

i've gone into the apple store to look at iPhone cases... so yea... i've "looked" at other apple products ;):p

if you didn't mean it like that... how did you mean it? i wasn't aware anyone else made electronics. :D:p
