Waiting to get the new iPad Pro. I have the first generation of the 12” screen.

The XS Max is great for on-the-go or quick pick-up browsing but for "serious" browsing I'll use my MacBook Pro. My iPad Pro is almost exclusively used with the Apple Pencil for notes.

We had time same topic come up back when the iPhone 6 Plus was released.

For me the answer is a big NO. I use my phone and iPad for business and pleasure. But when I come back to the iPad it’s such a relief!
Exactly, yeah for me this one was solved a long time ago also. Only difference is that for me the 6S Plus actually DID replace my need for a tablet. (just couldn't replace my phone, as I prefer them smaller for carrying about).
So my main phone to this day is still the iPhone 5S, but my new big screen home device is now the XS Max instead of the 6S Plus that it had been for years. iPads I have never had any need for.

Yes, sold my 2018 iPad, screen looked crappy after getting the Max, and being bigger than the 8 I had not needed, and prefer just one portable device.
I can use the Max one handed so easier to use than a iPad.

Well I had to return my Max because it gave me raging headaches, but I have had plus phones since the 6. I can’t imagine not having an iPad.

That being said, I ditched my 2nd gen pro about 6 months ago and am using the 2018 iPad now. I had just reached a point where I NEVER took my iPad off the table because it was just a bit too bulky to use in my lap.

With the 2018 pad, I have a killer setup with a stand and Bluetooth keyboard for use at my desk, but it’s in a lightweight case, so I can just grab it and go when I’m headed somewhere for the night.

I totally planned to get a 10.5” pro when the new ones are released, but honestly, I’m enjoying my setup. I ditched my Mac a few years ago when I went iPP, so I never thought I’d go smaller, but this is really working out well.

For the work I do, I just don’t need a computer anymore, and I like that what I do have, I can easily take with me.

I realize I kinda went off on a tangent there. I will say that I rarely take my iPad anywhere unless I’m going to be gone overnight or for several days. Having a bigger phone is definitely nice for those times.

The XS Max is no ipad. Ipad is for drawing, games that suck on a phone (even the max), comics, pdfs, editing pics, etc. I'm hoping usb-c rumor pans out and offers even more functionality with a Mac.

I could almost replace my iPad Mini with the XS Max since it is used mostly for ebook reading. On Monday I had a Doctor's appt and forgot my Mini, used the XS Max while waiting and reading was better in one way, I could read it without my reading glasses, something I cannot do on the Mini.
Other apps were fine to use also except any web surfing. Just never have liked the phone form factor for that and don't on the XS Max. I may find myself using the Max for Books app as my Mini is too old to get the new version.

I’ll say almost. Probably about the only thing it won’t replace is taking notes on my iPad with the Apple Pencil. Even if at some point the phones get Apple Pencil compatibility, it would be great for quick, short notes but note extensive note taking.

No, While the Max has a good size screen it in no way can replace my 10.5 iPad Pro. After a week with the Max it starts to feel like a regular phone again. Screen is still way too small for what my iPad does.

I never found a good use case for an iPad for me. When I'm out I wouldn't want to carry around yet another big expensive device that I have to take care of and when I'm home and in need of a bigger screen / actual keyboard I use my Macbook Pro.

I take a lot of handwritten notes on my ipad with the apple pencil. Until the iphone can do that, my ipad will be one of my most used devices.

I have three iPads at home and since I’ve purchased the XS Max I rarely use any of them anymore. The screen is big enough to satisfy my media consumption.

replaecd my ipad mini 2 [7.9 inch boi] but that being said that thing lags now w/ iOS 11 and it's like 4-5 years old... so no surprises there

it will definitely not replace an iPad Pro for me though. because they serve different purposes.

While the max is big it still feels like a phone. An iPad even the mini is totally different in comparison.
I don't think phones will feel tablet like until if they ever get to 7"

Phone goes on a Stump™️ stand or wireless charger when I get home, connect it and Watch to WiFi, then don’t touch it till I leave the house. iPad follows me around the house for podcast listening, light browsing etc. Desktop for work/where it’s more efficient.

Still take iPad Pro to work. The Max is great, but it doesn’t compare to watching video at length on an iPad. Never watch video on iPad at home, seems silly when there’s a huge OLED to use instead.

Love the max but work stuff is easier on the IPPro. I am noticing that i am using the Max for more though. The IPPro has def replaced a lot of my MacBook usage though (my 2015 13 is still rocking strong with no need for replacement)
