The 10.5 is a sham I see no improvement over 9.7 screen size purely. The 12.9 is still a must have if your planning on doing serious productivity things or if your coming from a laptop with a 13inch or 15 inch screen
Obviously you have not spent much time with the 10.5, and certainly haven't compared it side-by-side with the 9.7. The screen is brighter and more vibrant. Plus, the slightly larger display makes it far more suitable as a laptop replacement than the 9.7 ever was.

That being said, I still chose to upgrade my first-gen 12.9 to the new 12.9 (it's fabulous!), even though I was tempted by the 10.5.

Sold my 1st Gen 12.9" and bought the 10.5; I already miss the 12.9" screen. I spend the majority of time with the iPad resting on my chest propped on the folded SmartCover so holding it up was never an issue. I may return it to Apple and get the 12.9" but I see there aren't any in Houston and won't be until the end of the month. Boooo.

Obviously the 10.5 is better then the 9.7 in every way except multitasking which is inferior on the smaller display.

I imagine that would be a more difficult adjustment than most would think when you downgrade from a 12.9 to a 10.5 display. Because once you have been using a larger display after so long, it just creates a more condensed version on a smaller display. I actually prefer the 12.9' iPad, but will also opt for the 10.5 and well, that way I can have both displays, with the 10.5 being more for my portability.

I did the opposite. Retuned the 10.5 for the 12.9 to try it out. I think I am going to keep the 12.9 because
its nicer to watch movies and YouTube on. I still have my Air 2 that I am keeping. If I didn't have the air 2,
I probably would have kept the 10.5.

Im in the same boat. Switched from 10.5" to 12.9" ... The 12.9" iPad Pro is a great Netflix machine for long trips or hotel stays! Enjoy!

I did. 12.9 1st gen to 10.5 mainly because I wanted the portability. I'll miss 12.9 in theory but in practical uses, 10.5 is better suited for me.

I think this is a big reason why some opt for the 10.5, because the 12.9 is just much larger than what they needed Or originally thought.

I sort of did, but I haven't actually had the 12.9 in personal possession for nearly a year. But I got the 12.9" as a laptop replacement and the 10.5" is not meant to be that, already have a laptop.

True. When traveling, I opt not to bring 90% of the time. I wanted a bigger iPad but not THAT big. Again, I’ll miss the size but not enough to make me get another 12.9”.
