IMHO the 920 simply destroys the iPhone and almost all Android handsets in terms of design, UI and... that screen
True, it's an interesting blend of what's been done in iOS and Android.
It doesn't make life easier if you use your phone often while it's charging. You'll either be accidentally pulling the phone off its dock constantly, or picking up the dock along with the phone if you want to use it. I can see it being a nice little novelty, but it's not really a selling point.
1. How much is it?
2. When can I buy one?
These are the only two things that matter in a press event and yet some companies continue to do "pricing and availability to be announced". Until then this phone is vapour, it does not exist.
If its not ready to ship then don't do the event. Due towards the end of October? Do the event then, not in September when you can't sell anything to anyone.
I couldn't agree with you more. I really, truly believe that Nokia/MSFT have shot themselves in the foot with not only their timing but their lack of release info.
What dumbass company does a press release ONE week before Apple (releasing the same kind of product) and then won't offer the product untill WELL AFTER the competition has released their devices for consumers???
I have a good friend who really wanted the N920 and is disgusted that we might not be able to get it until 2013??? (Canada). It's funny too because he was waiting for a long time just to see what Nokia would offer, but also made his cut off time of October to get a new phone (he's still rockin the 3GS).
Piss Poor Planning imo...
This is the only thing that scares me. Will this potentially great phone and OS simply be sentenced to the discount shelves because of their attempt at going up against the giant without any real "ammo"?Piss Poor Planning imo...
The phone has a LOT going for it.
I'm not sure how well Windows phones sync with Macs, though?
Now that sounds like a good use of inductive charging. Having the phone switch automatically into speakerphone mode when placed onto its charger sounds like a killer feature.+ 1 million for inductive charging
I had a couple of Palm WebOS devices, and boy was it luxurious to just put the phone down on a Touchstone charger instead of fumbling around with wires.
My son-in-law had Touchstone chargers at home, at the office, and in his car. The magnets inside held the phone in the right position.
It was also cool that it went into speakerphone mode automatically if you answered a call while it was on the charger.
Yeah I did, and if I owned the phone, that's what I'd do. Unless the inductive charging dock supported a feature like the one kdarling mentioned, otherwise I personally don't see the point, as having to lay the phone on its dock will restrict you from using it properly as it's charging.did you read his post?
you still can plug the phone in... you dont have to use the wireless charging...
i love the windows phones.. the UI is awesome, i just wish it had a lot of the apps i use on my iphone.. its tempting.
That screen look beautiful
It doesn't matter, honestly. We can guess that the price point will be somewhere around $200, and even if you're off by $100, that's still like 1/100th of what you pay over the course of a contract.
Likewise, if you buy a phone because it's available "today" as opposed to announced "today" and available later this year, that's just silly as it'll obviously be out in time for the holidays, and again, if you're buying because you can't wait 1/12 of your contract, that's silly too.
