I am slowly but surely converting family members from Windows to Mac. My last coversion was my 79 year old father. He was sick of dealing with Windows. He was cussing at his computer because of having to run virus scans and very long Windows updates.

Over the past couple of months, I have been telling him about the iMac and how great it runs. I think the final selling point for him was the fact that I can help him using iChat and screen sharing. Basically, becoming his own personal technical support. :)

Well, he finally purchased an iMac a few weeks back and so far he loves it.

Chalk up another successful conversion. :)

My wife has also been quite resistent to using our iMac. Well, I got her an iPhone and a MobileMe account. Now she loves it! She's using the calendar and address book like nobody's business and loves the fact that everything syncs to the iMac.

Now I just need to work on my brother. He loves his Windows machine and rips into me everytime I mention Apple. It will be a challenge but sooner or later I will get him to come around. ;)

I converted my step dad twice (well actually one and a half).

Once in 1996 from Amega to PC.

Then recently almost from PC to Mac. He is talking about getting a MacBook although I'm sure he will keep his PC because of the games he plays.

Since the iPod and the iPhone it's not very difficult to convert people. I think vista also made it easier as many windows users didn't see it as much of a step forward (more of a stumble to the side).

For me, the easiest machine to convert people to is the mac mini. It's small and not too taxing on the pocket. Shame I can't recommend it now.

The reason I convert people is purely selfish – the more family members that have a mac the less time I have to spend fixing their machines :D

I've been a PC user for all my life, going back to DOS. I can assure you that Win Vista is a HUGE factor in people switching these days - I know that's why *I'm* switching, as soon as the iMac is updated. There is no way that I'm going to purchase a Win Vista box, no how, no way! That being said, another impetus is the iPhone and iPod Touch. That latter one has completely convinced me to dedicate to the switch.

I'll set about converting folks asap. :)

I got into macs with the ipods, and soon after the iphone. Then came the MBA, and now the big plunge with an iMac.
I have convinced my close circle because of all the nifty things: ichat, screen sharing, and the ease that it hooks up to the internet and is good to go.

* Once I bought the iMac, I couldn't believe how seamlessly it hooked up to my MBA. I mean it sort of guided me. It's great to be able to share libraries, etc.. My husband walked in and said, "you're using TWO computers at the same time???"

I converted one friend who wanted me to help her build a $600 PC. I talked her into an $800 Mini (with extras). She's thrilled, hasn't looked back, occasionally thanks me for talking her into it.

My next project is to convince my wife to ditch our PC. This would be easier if Apple released a cheap headless Mac <grumble grumble grumble>.

I have converted a friend of mine. Sadly, my GF is stubborn. I'm convinced, she would love the Mac platform, because she likes my machine a lot. She curses a great deal at her Windows PC over all the instability issues and peculiar error messages, but always says she likes her PC a lot.. Hmmm...

Hope she doesn't find this post.. :p

Finally

Converted my daughter. She got my granddaughter a Macbook last year and will replace her Dell with an iMac in the very near future.;)

I have converted my mom to an iMac, her boyfriend was one click away from buying a macbook air as well. I think my dad may finally buy a mac mini, the rest of my family is Windows biased even though they know they know nothing about macs or the apple company in general, almost every day I have to help them with a virus, updates, my brother deleting the recycle bin (hehe).

Coworkers, professors, and my siblings.

My brother's iMac G4 800 MHz works perfectly under Tiger for him. I never have to worry about it since all he does it web browse and iPhoto.

I'm working on my first conversions, if you don't count myself and my gf.

I'm currently trying to convince a few people at work but I don't know EVERYTHING since I'm only 8 months in, I know alot of random reasons to switch to PC but I don't have something that I can 'show them' does anyone know of any links I can show them? They constantly show me specs of computers that are 'superior' but I'm not buying it.

I had briefly converted my brother and sister but they then decided to go back to XP after. My GF wants a mac (she loves safari browser and iPods)

But i never pass an opportunity to promote apple hehe today i was spreading the word of a new apple store opening near here =)

I in turn hated PCs but had to use them for school work now i use iMacs for my course (which gave me the shove to buy my own mac (macbook 2.1GHz)

So far I have converted my best friend 20" iMac, my sister 20" iMac, my mom MacBook, a co worker MacBook Pro and he went on to convert his mother to a MacBook. Sounds like I am in one of those pyramid schemes or something. LOL

You can't beat this, I have converted my parents, my friends, people at my church and the best part: Me and my brother are trying to convert the whole school!:D By letting them buy Macs

Let's see...

Converted my best friend
Converted my Girlfriend
Converted my mom
Converted my dad
Converted my sister
Converted my aunt
Converted my iPod/iPhone using friends.

Apple should pay me to be their marketing consultant :) :apple::apple::apple:

What I do not like are when people show me PCs that are "more superior" in specs, but they have to run that god awful of an OS infection called Windows. Their $3,000 monstrosity of a computer still BSOD's like hell hasn't froze over (it has according to Steve Jobs and his iTunes on Windows keynote)

I converted my wife by getting her a MB Pro and installing VMWare Fusion on it. Now she can do her video editing and run her must have windows application on one computer. She rarely uses her old Dell laptop anymore.

I also converted a friend of mine. We actually bought our 24" Imac at the same time.

But I got to give my employer credit for converting me. With 10% (6k) of the employees using MB Pros, I got to see and hear firsthand how people felt and used their Macs. Didn't take long before I said I gotta get one!

Sister
Dad
Mom
Grandmother
Grandfather (iMac is his 2nd Mac, he still has his Apple II :D but went to Dell inbetween.)
Grandfather (He didn't take to much convincing, he likes every gadget/computer there is.)

Guys, let's be honest, the machines convert people themselves; we merely facilitate :D

After doing work experience at an Apple resellers, I got a Powerbook G4, then bought an ACD, then moved to a MBP. My brothers got a macbook, my mate got a blackbook and my dad got an iMac.

My mum wants a mac, but has to use a thinkpad for work :(

andy.

I have converted my...

...Mum, she has my old macbook
...Brother, he is getting a mac mini,
...Dad, well he has no choice as there are no PC's in my house be he hasnt complained.
...Two history teachers, they used to be mac users but had to switch back due to the education system and lack of compatibility between macs and PC's but now things are better they both bought macs when they took a class on a ski trip too america.
...My Old Rector at high school, also ex mac user, forced to switch, after seeing the yearbook I designed for school he decided to switch to mac again.
...3 School friends, one is defiantly getting a macbook for uni, the other two are still put of my the cost but admit macs are far better.
...2 of my cousins now want macs

I dont really do anything just most people really dont know much about macs.

I've converted at least a dozen people, and I take my duties as a Mac Evangelist very seriously. And along with those conversions at least 90% of them have also signed up for MobileMe. I wish apple had some type of referral program, like $25 credit or something. I'd be well on my way to a new MCP, or at least a good amount of savings off it.
