Just wondering who here has decided after having their JB iPhone to give up their JB and go back to the standard iPhone and why. I liked the JB but I am tired of Cydia crashing on me and always worrying about the firmware bc after my last trip to the Apple store I now have FW 3.1.3 on my phone

I went back to non Jailbroken for a while. I got tired of things crashing, namely Categories and Cydia. It was just after I left the phone company I was working for and for some reason having crazy apps didn't excite me anymore and I just wanted simplicity.

Having said that, back on the Jailbreak bandwagon now and happy with it. I found a happy medium and just have a simple theme (Simple iPad look-a-like) with the bare essential apps.

I think after awhile the novelty of having everything so customizable wears off. Perhaps if I was more into the code side of things I'd feel different.

Having the ability to have all the extras though is definitely a plus even if I don't want them at the moment.

Man d/l "tlert"... google it and you will ask how could you have used this iphone with out this app.

No, I depend on MyWi for tethering since AT&T still don't have a tethering option. I use Rock a lot instead of Cydia which is quicker and doesn't crash as much. Never had a problem with Categories and CategoriesSB on my 3GS. I'm going to stay JB as long as I can.

There's a new jailbreak out for 3.13 today by the dev team. It was posted earlier today.

Only for jailbroken phones with the old version of iBoot and which are currently on 3.1.2. People with 3GS phones on 3.1.3 that can't be downgraded (no SHSH on file) cannot be jailbroken, since they are not subject to the USB exploit.

Question for you, will the type of 3GS that you described + having the new iboot be able to be jailbroken? I'm hoping so...

litterally I can live without the free apps, (dont know hy I would....) and I can barely stand the stock theme the Iphone has.... (ALLUMINE ALL THE WAY!!)

what I CANNOT live without is BITE SMS... this is the biggest thing for me on my iphone, not having the ability to reply to a message while doing something is crutial to my everyday life.. I use my phone for so much and texting is always interupting my usage, Bite lets me reply without messing everything up...

so Def not upgrading to 3.13 till GEOHOT comes out with updated blackra1n. I dont like dev team for some reason there are a bunch of guys beefing with GEOHOT for being one kid who can do what the entire team can do by himself, and do it better... as well as HACK THE PS3!!!!

GO GEOHOT!!

Although my iPhone is JB, it still has the "native" look to it. The only difference is that I have LockInfo installed. I have been debating on un-JBing my iPhone, but I have not found a solid reason why I should. So for now, it stayings JB.

Oh BiteSMS, how I love thee.

I don't think I've actually opened the messaging app in months. And being able to text without even unlocking - perfect. Best £3 or whatever I've spent on my phone since I got it. I think it's a quicker way to make phonecalls as well

And I would never go back to stock. BiteSMS, SBSsettings, Cycorder, Backgrounder, Kirikae and OpenSSH are all necessary apps.

I don't bother customising and pirate apps are usually more trouble than they're worth but the stock OS is such a pain to use compared with how easy a few jailbreak tweaks make things.

I had my 3GS JBed for ~4 months. I had to restore due to a visit to the Apple store, but I have noticed a major battery life increase since I have gone stock.

This may not be the case for everyone but I had a lot of things running that required updates (i.e. weather on the lockscreen). I haven't had the urge to JB again since the battery life is substantially better.

I jailbroke about a month ago, it was great. Just didn't do too much with it, just a few add-on utilities. But after a few weeks I decided to go to the Nexus One because I didn't want to HAVE to jailbreak a phone in order to use it the way I wanted to.

I have been jailbroken since the first jb was released for the 2g iPhone. I would not go back because of the multitask features. I used to theme the iPhone but haven't for a while.

I have only had a few hiccups from being JB. When something errors out, I fix it. I am careful just to run stuff I use, not every flash in the pan app that comes out in Cydia.

I had to do a recent restore/re-JB due to an unfixable Cydia error, but I should be good for another 6 months or so.

I dumped my JB, the only thing I'm really missing is the ability to Tether, I have netshare so I can still tether my laptop, I'm missing the tether mostly for the iPad since I'm still debating whether or not I want to get one..

But, when the new iPhones come out I'd lose the JB anyway... sooooo, tick tock, tick tock...

Sigh. PwnageTool cannot be used on phones with the new iBoot because such phones cannot be pwned and only pwned phones can be restored to a custom firmware.

But even if you don't understand all that, the answer to your question should be obvious from the post of mine that you quote. Reread what I said, you will see that there are three conditions for using PT 3.1.5 on a 3GS:

1) The phone must currently be jailbroken
2) The phone must have the old bootrom
3) The phone must be on 3.1.2

Does a phone with the new bootrom meet those criteria?

Finally, haven't you told us all that your phone has 3.1.3 and is not currently jailbroken? So your phone would meet none of the criteria.
