I wish the watch fit the bill but it doesn't, I'm going to try and sell it get and go for the vivoactive or fenix3. I'm sure I'll circle back again to the apple watch at some point when it's more mature and can compete feature for feature with a dedicated fitness tracker.

Lots of new device on the market and way more on the way. I bought Fitbit stock long ago and have been rewarded many times over. Enough to make up my mistake with Bakckberry and more. The Fenix 3 look mighty good.

Well, going by looks alone, the Vivosmart looks similar to the Charge, and it's more visually appealing to me. I'd have to research features, though.

See, this is another reason why staying with Apple is so tempting. There's just basically one watch, despite all the different casings and bands. Try to pick a non-Apple product, and all of a sudden, there are so many choices, it becomes overwhelming.

Choice are hard these days and there are so many "wearables" heading our way that it will not get more easy to decide. I may go back and buy another Apple watch when they get things sorted out and work on the fitness apps. I just got back from Bestbuy and bought the new Fitbit Charge HR and am going to give it a shot at replacing the Surge.

Good luck and have a great weekend, Sir!

Gotta be in it to win it
Well first of all the Surge is VERY forgiving as how tight or loose you can wear it and never be unable to get your HR. It tracks my HR even when quite loose and sitting o top of my wrist bone.

The watch is rubberized or soft and is not uncomfortable to wear. It does not have the style of an Apple watch but that is not why I tried the AW. I bought the AW for the fitness hype which is MOST important to me, WAY more important than looks.

There is no comparison when it come to fitness as the Surge hardware and app for tracking excercise/fitness is so superior and it works. Do not get me wrong as I loved the AW. The size of the Surge is nothing compared to my honker gold Rolex.
I think I have an Apple watch on order; as my s.o. hinted(already bought one gave it away). I love my surge and the slick app. The a.w. feels more upscale on my wrist the sports band is of better quality and really want the "smart" features at times.

When I want something more traditional there's always my vacheron.

There is no doubt that the Apple watch is a bit more sophisticated and nicer to look at. I would like to trade the HR sensor and apps in the Surge and put it in the AW.

I am convinced that Apple could fix this with an intermediate OS update and update their fitness program.

The GPS in the surge, although a battery depleter, is kind of the icing on the cake. I'm convinced apple looked at doing this, but looked at the potentially worse batter life.

No doubt. Battery life was a real worry for Apple during the R and D. Everything had to be a compromise to make sure it offered at least a day of service. We all even we're hearing rumors about trouble with battery life.

Is there not an oxygen sensor in the existing watch that they deactivated? Not sure if it did not work or if it sucked too much power. Still hoping for an intermediate watch update. An updated fitness app would not hurt either.

Battery life for the vivo is excellent! I go 5 to 7 days between charges. It really matters how much I run if I need to charge it more or less.

I was deciding between the fenix 3 and vivo and I chose the vivo because of the same abilities and price.
