Have not and will not until the jailbreak is available for my 3GS. I'm enjoying MMS & Tethering with michaeljohnston hack.....
I installed the MichaelJohnston hack at your suggestion. Tethering works great but How are you getting MMS with it?

I have upgraded but when i get home tomorrow i'm going back to 3.0.1
1. No real benefit to 3.1
2. Last night i took my phone off 100% full batter, put it in flight mode and woke up 6 hours later to a 35% battery .... NOT cool
3.1 is sucky ... podcasts out of order bug too

3.1 is total garbage. Apple should be ashamed of themselves for releasing this. I've had nothing but problems. I am now on my 10th restore. I can't even downgrade it to 3.0 because Apple is blocking it when it verifies the iPhone (error 20). If it doesn't work this time I'm going to bring it in to get a new one. This is without question Apple's worst update yet and it'll be the last time I update my iPhone immediately when an update comes out. I have an iPod touch as well that is also experiencing problems.
I have a 3gs and I haven't updated to 3.1 because of all the issues. I'm also waiting for the jailbreak, but even if the jailbreak come out I still will wait to see if people find issues with that.
If your 3g signal is weak the 3.1 makes it better, it has on my case. I also got better battery life and a better experience with the keyboard, no lag, works smooth. I have not had ANY problems with 3.1, I love it! Just make sure if you do update after it's done do it AGAIN and you won't have the issues SOME people are having.
I say SOME because those that upgrade and everything went smoothly the hardly ever come here and say how good it is. Only those with issues come and post problems. So don't make up your mind on those threads only. I never do and every update has been great for me. Just have to install the updYe twice. Helps every time!

I have a non-jb 3Gs and ever since 3.1 my phone has been eating battery, despite my iPhone usage being fairly consistent.
I'm not aware of all the other problems on 3.1, i'll have to have a mroogle.
Ah, another problem I have found is that non Apple apps sometimes close on me when I am using them.
I wonder how easy a downgrade is to do?

upgraded my 3g to 3.1. i definitely find battery life to be less now. other than that i don't notice any other improvements/faults.
Not yet on my 3G, no JB. I usually wait 1-2 weeks until I hear reviews from other people. And I think I'll wait it out some more. I could use more stability (some apps tend to quit themselves occasionally).
You are aware that once you pop the 3.1 firmware, you can't get back to 3.0 firmware with the 3GS
Upgraded to 3GS last Thursday, came home with 3.0.1 on it. Updated to 3.1 within 5 minutes. Never looked back. Although the podcast ordering issue is annoying.
