I used Android on a Sprint EVO for a few months a couple years ago. I liked the OS but the battery was horrible so I returned it for an iPhone 4 on AT&T.

Android has come a long way since then and so has the hardware it runs on. I was tempted by the M8 but I've read the camera on it is not very good. If the mock-ups of the iPhone 6 turn out to be accurate then I'd have to say the HTC M8 design is far superior. If the iPhone 6 disappoints, then I might be the next generation of the HTC smartphone.

Thanks for the thread and the laughs, very comical to hear perspective from fansboys. :D

Has anyone actually used an Android from 2013 thru the present?

----------

Currently using an lg g2. And waiting everyday to come back to iOS.

I know what you mean... I'm using a Galaxy S5. I grew tired of the stale iOS so I decided to try Android (a few different times). I love Apple and really hope the iPhone 6 brings me back but right now there's nothing that Apple does better that my Galaxy S5 doesn't do and there are many things my Galaxy S5 does that an iPhone just doesn't and can't do.

I'm just wondering how many iPhone users have used an android device and what their experience was like. What did you guys not like and what made you switch back to apple? Also if you did decide to stay with android, what made you stay?

Huh? What is Android? :D

I had a Galaxy S3, S4 and a Note 3 for work
I always had it forwarded to my personal iPhone and left it turned off

Yes, I used them for a bit, set them up, played with them for a while
But turned them off and tucked them away

Nothing wrong with them, and they did the job
Most of the same standard apps I was using
I just didn't need another phone to do the same things

I am thinking Android might be worse than Windows because of the chaos for critical security updates to propagate.

Woah, that's a lot of data!

Tethering for a home connection too?

Videos at a native HD resolution would be nice though just to make things a little easier across the board if you are putting videos on your phone.

Yes - I don't have home broadband as mobile is a lot cheaper and faster.

Been using Android for about 6 months (initially Moto G, now Galaxy S4), having used iPhone for about 3 years. I don't think one is clearly better than the other.

What I prefer about Android:
* Larger screens.
* Inter-app sharing.
* The app drawer and the ability to hide shortcuts from the home screen.
* More flexibility for transfer files between phone and computer.
* The fact that there are decent low cost options, so if I ever lost my phone I can easily just go into a store and pick up a cheap temporary phone.

What I prefer about iPhone:
* Transitioning from one Android phone to another is a chore. One of the most annoying things is having to re-organise your homescreen and re-set-up accounts. Restoring from an old backup is so quick and easy with iPhone.
* I don't like the software based Encryption on Android. I prefer the hardware-based Encryption on iPhone.
* I like the system-wide define word feature on iPhone. Android does not have this.

I have a s4 but want to go back to ios with the iphone 6. I have sprint so I can literally pick up a 5s new for 300 bucks lol:eek:

however, I really wanna try a macbook, never had one but can't really afford one due to cost, bought a asus laptop for 450 refurbised.

I'm hoping next year I'll use my income tax to get a mac, I'm almost 40 so I'm at the age where I'm not really trying to "work" things out anymore, want a good experience so I can do other things.

My s4 was rooted and that was a hassle trying to fix issues, I quickly put it back to stock and called it a day.

I used an HTC One for a few months before I went back to the iPhone. I mostly didn't like the software and the UI. The phone would lag randomly for no reason. The performance was just bad. iOS is more fluid and has a simplistic UI.

Everyone's experiences differ sometimes. But your experiences with the HTC either M7 or M8 goes against all reviews of both devices from every review site........

Yes you're right. That's why I decided to get an HTC One in the first place. I got it based on the reviews. But I was disappointed and quickly switched back to my iPhone 5 after only a couple of months of use.

I did a bing search for lag on the iphone 5 produced over 3 million hits

http://www.bing.com/search?q=iphone%205%20lag&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=iphone%205%20lag&sc=8-11&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=e1b55200afae49049cea5c5e36055d07

Then the HTC One produces 944K hits

The same reason why they put a separate skin.

I'm not really sure what that means. Google is the de facto Android ecosystem; if you want something else you basically have to cobble it together from different services. I don't think any OEM aside from Samsung has taken any great leaps towards developing a standalone ecosystem for Android, and even then I don't know how many of the basics such as email and cloud storage Samsung provides.

What do you think that this is indicative of? His experiences aren't dictated by search result hit counts.

I used an iPhone for a few years. I had never used an Android phone until I switched to my HTC One M7 last July. I wanted a larger screen and widgets.

Correct....but in general it does.

I own or have owned half a dozen or so high end Android phones/tablets. After about a month the allure wears off and I go back to Apple.
