This. 512 GB would be a pricey cost for an iPhone of that model that would not be attractive, and you would have very few iPhone owners who would be willing to upgrade to 512 GB if they could not even get past 256 GB of storage. Even 128 GB is likely more than sufficient enough for a large portion of iPhone owners.
That’s why Apple got rid of it. I wonder how many people with the 256gb regret it and wish they had the 64gb? 128 is the sweet spot, and apple has made millions up selling the 256gb to people.

Not many

I think most would struggle with only 64GB and as you said Apple realise this.

I have 1600 photos, 24 videos and 460 screen shots. I am at 11.4gb used out of 64. Most pictures I send to google photos. My wife has 3000 pics, a bunch of apps and 50+ videos. She’s at 32/64gb. I don’t see what people fill their phones with in this day of google photos and iCloud storage. Are people using apps that take up a massive amount of storage, or storing a boatload of music on their phone? I really don’t get it.

A 512GB iPhone X Plus - only $1499... and you thought it was quiet after the X $999 price announcement? Ha!

I’m at 43.5 GB for the moment, but I’m good with 256GB. I like music and then my podcasts are fairly large as well. Plus, never know what can happen. I’d rather have more space and not need it than to need it and can’t do anything about it. To me, the storage gain is worth the $100 difference. But like another poster stated, 128GB probably would have been ideal.

how can there be 220 apps that anyone actually uses? ive just checked and I have 44 on my iPhone.

just shows how different we all are. my 16gb on my iPhone 6 is a bit tight I admit. the phone is fine for my uses but the charging slot seems to be broke and its hard to charge it, but im hoping it limps on until the new phones come out and im excited that ill end up with 64gb. when the wife got a new work ipad she gave me her 64gb one to replace my 16gb ipad 4 and I was like wow theres so much space. and when I look im still using about 16gb on it but the extra space is a life saver for when I go on holiday for films and stuff.

my music is in the cloud, I have a couple of albums on my apple watch to save on internet. photos I just use the normal apple storage and pay for 50gb of icloud. probably I should just use google and save €1 a month. actually I should use google full stop and save on iTunes match too. anyway I digress....

I honestly couldn't come up with 80 apps id want on my iPhone even if the space was limitless, the time taken scrolling through either pages or folder to find stuff would do my nut in.

Siri is great at launching apps.

I don’t use anywhere near that amount but when you have 256GB space is never an issue.

There ar apps like grand slam tennis apps I use two weeks of the year for example.

I could go through and delete plenty of apps if I needed more space. Not really a major issue with the storage I have.

now that's even worse! I mean for me, personal opinion only. why would I want to loudly say the name of the app when I could just jab it with my finger.

im not anti siri/google. I have google home in the house and its easier that way to speak than walk to a computer or pick up my phone, but the idea that some how every time I want to

that sounds even worse than scrolling through. I'm happy using voice with my google home in the flat because theres no one else there and its quicker to say hey google turn on the living room , than it is to walk to the light switch.

but pressing siri and saying out loud Open Kindle, I would never do that, takes longer and sounds daft in company.

That really depends on how many apps you have.

I just say: hey Siri launch launch app x or hey Siri open app y.

It’s actually quite fast, and commands is one of the few metrics Siri beats google assistant.

I’m using 140 GB on my 256GB model.

I have

2,475 songs
18,448 pictures
202 apps
566 videos

I really couldn’t use 64GB or even 128GB.

In the 2017 lineup they simplified storage tiers a bit by giving 2 options for each model right?

I think iPhone X and 8 had 64 and 256, and iPhone 7, 6s and SE had 32 and 128. My guess is that it’ll be similar for 2018 as well.

If I was keeping an iPhone for a long period of time (2+ years) I’d go for higher storage. Given that I tend to sell and replace it every year, I’m able to manage with less storage (went for 64GB iPhone X which in Canada was already ~$1500 CAD including sales tax). Everything I have stored is really cloud based. The biggest being my photo library. I’ve never really stopped to worry about or manage storage. With my iPad I went with the larger storage option as I like to have more of the photo library cached and during travel I tend to save many shows & movies locally.

For me, the sweet spot would be 128GB.

Yeah, 128 would be perfect on the phone. We were stuck with a 16GB base for so long, that they quickly moved that up to 32 and 64, but suddenly even 64 could feel tight. They’re masters at these SKUs and maximizing revenues at this point.
