I went and took a picture of our sauna. Three differently exposed RAW, a run through Photomatix and Pixelmator, and this is the end-result. HDR is not that obvious, but it's there :). I'm not 100% sure how happy I am with the end-result, but it conveys the look and feel of the sauna quite nicely.

None of those are any good. For the most part, everyone here uses a program called "Photomatix"

They have an unlimited free trial as well as a $99 sticker price for the non-watermarked version.

My first HDR ever was this... Not good at all

Then a couple of months passed and I had the time to play around with it again

The above two pictures might not look like HDR, but the possibilities of HDR just managed to give them the final touch IMHO :)

Thumbs up for HDR as one of our tools :)

Below is Central and the Admiralty, across Hong Kong harbor is Kowloon. I loved Hong Kong. Wonderful photo op.s, great food and shopping, interesting activity everywhere, and very friendly folk. Some good camera shops, too. Only down side is the hotel prices--wow! But, in the the words of the well-known Governor, "I'll be back."

I love it! Very neat lines and composition and the lighting on the top is great.

Okay, here is what an "overcooked" HDR looks like:

IMG_5591+copy.jpg

I wouldn't call that overcooked. I'd call it highly stylized. If that is the kind of image you want to create, use HDR or learn to paint. The ability to do that is one of the reasons I like HDR so much.

Love the pics guys. I too have been playing around with HDR pics over the past few months and love it. I'm looking forward to the sun staying up longer so I actually have a chance to get some good pictures of sunsets.

I can't remember if this was posted, but here's a link to my favorite HDR tutorial. Plus his pictures he takes are absolutely stunning.

http://stuckincustoms.com/2006/06/06/548/

He has a photo very much the same as Freeloaders Hong Kong pic from a page back, and I hate to say it but his is much nicer! Sorry dude!

Check out his site, it's well worth it.

I found a few that I did, yet none of them are that great. I haven't purchased the software yet, but I will someday.

First attempts

Okay, so I've had my DSLR for less than a week, but when I stumbled upon this thread I was blown away by the artistry of HDR...so, of course I wanted to try it. Here are a couple of attempts (as feeble as they may be), I would appreciate any pointers on how to make them the best the can be.

How do you get the photos to look so computer animated? I think you all do a great job, but i'm just not sure how you do it.
