New air fryer.

Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to actually purchase one of these, it’s probably one of the most widely used cooking utensils for a healthy-ish lifestyle in the fitness industry. I mainly grill a lot of my meats, just because I prefer the whole ‘charbroil’ flavor, but this investment was long overdue.

I plan on purchasing 3/4 pounds of King salmon, and then testing out to see how the finished product.

Question for all the swimmers- how do you keep track of workouts poolside?

I have structured workouts like the following:

Code:
250 yd Z1, 500 yd Z3, 500 yd Z2, 250 yd Z1

and

Code:
500 yd Z1, 5 x (100 yd Z3/15" rest) 250 yd Z1, 5 x (50 yd Z4/20" rest) 250 yd Z1

I have pace charts in the workouts as well. I’m thinking that a waterproof notepad is probably the easiest way to keep track of what I’m supposed to be doing

Good luck, enjoy. Did you get to preparing the salmon? If so, wondering how it turned out? I bought my (first) hot air fryer last November, and have yet to really fully-explore it's capabilities. So far it's been mostly potato fries & wedges, chicken and turkey drumsticks, breaded shrimp, and such. And I've been quite impressed with the results.

Sorry for the late reply. (Macrumors notification system is still kind of broken since the last patch.)

I actually did not make the salmon in the airfryer, mainly because we’re into the grilling season and that’s one of my favorite things to do when it’s hot outside. (I’ve been making loads of barbecue chicken breast.)

I can tell you this, but I’m really looking forward to using it for besides salmon, is wings, and there’s so many different combinations I’d like to try. Your particular air fryer looks really sharp, especially with all the touch capacitive controls.

I promise, once I’ve got more crafting ideas, I will post back what I made.

Greek yogurt as a snack? I pretty much infuse Greek yogurt all day long with every meal. (See below). The great thing about Greek yogurt, is that your body assimilates it very quickly, it doesn’t really cause a lot of digestive issues and it is a probiotic, which is also beneficial for your digestive health. Plus, you do get the protein content, dairy and it’s relatively healthy. I personally add 80% dark chocolate into mine to flare it up a bit.

Like I said, I go through _a lot_ of Greek yogurt (These are the 32oz tubs/$5.99), I prefer Chobani, as it has a little hint of lemon to it, but it’s not overly powering being sugary and/or being too rich. If you’re somebody that more likes the Vanilla taste, try Oikos.

Ah! I am glad to read this! Thanks for the feedback! I am integrating it into my diet, so I was curious about your opinion.
As for taste, to be honest I like plain yogurt; no fruity flavors, no sugars, no chocolate, nothing... I might be weird!

Nothing weird about that. Also, since you’re kind of a coffee connoisseur, check out these two iced coffee beverages, more specifically ‘Stok’. It’s actually protein fused, but has no protein taste whatsoever. One of the best iced coffee drinks I’ve ever had, and there’s no after-effect jitteriness. I just pour mine right over ice. The Califia uses Almond milk and has really nice smooth nuance with a creamy expresso texture.

Fantastic! I am very curious about that Stok. Is it found at regular stores (Kroger, Target etc) or is it a Whole Foods kind of product?

Good question. I found it at Meijer, but I believe Costco carries this as well. If you find it, I think you’d really like it. I can’t believe it actually has 16g of protein per serving, and there’s no chalky taste whatsoever. I paid I believe $4.50. There’s no high fructose corn syrup and it uses pure cane sugar.

Sharp ride. I was actually just talking to my wife the other day, that ever since I stopped running and converted over to bodybuilding, I don’t do enough cardio like I used to. And I want to take up biking/trailriding (I live in the countryside, so lots of openness). But I don’t even know where to start with a good/solid bike and anyone has any recommendations on what would be some thing else along those lines, I’m definitely open to suggestions, and I wouldn’t have any specific budget, as I’d be willing to spend what’s necessary for a high-quality bike.

Sounds like maybe a gravel bike? It’s kind of situated in between a road and mountain bike as far as road vs trail riding. I don’t know much about that genre, though.

Any specific brand I should be looking at? What can you tell me about your bike specifically?

I’ll preface by saying, it really depends on the budget. But good bikes start in the mid-1000’s and go up from there.

Most bike manufacturers that you may have heard of (like Trekor Specialized) make a gravel-specific model. It will have drop, road style handlebars as opposed to flat, mountain bike bars. Tires will be wider than a road bike and a little more textured, but not extremely wide or knobby like a mountain bike. Two main frame types are aluminum and carbon fiber. Aluminum is cheaper, but carbon fiber is lighter. Either one would be a good option.

Depending on the mode you may get a 1x or 2x crankset (the front gears where the pedals are). A 2x will have a big gear for speed/power and a smaller gear for climbs (like a 50 & 34 gear). A 1x will have something in the middle of the two (42 or 46 or something). Either option will likely have 11 gears in the back—that’s pretty standard these days. Upper end is electronic shifting.

Then you have brakes. Traditionally, there are rim brakes that have a brake track on the wheel itself. More recently are disc brakes similar to what are on a car. Mechanical disc brakes use a cable pull and hydraulic disc brakes will either use a standard brake fluid or mineral oil to press the brake pistons on a rotor.

Generally, cheaper bikes will be aluminum with rim brakes. Nothing wrong at all with those machines. As you pay more, you get lighter frames and components.

My bike is a Cervelo P-Series which is their Triathlon/Time Trial specific model. It’s designed for going fast on pavement. Gravel and mountain biking are strongly discouraged on this style of bike. The bars that stick out front are so the rider can get into an aerodynamic position. It’s a mid-ish range model. Carbon fiber frame, hydraulic disk brakes and the mid-range performance road group set (gears and shifters).

EDIT: Sorry if I rambled and didn’t answer your question. Since I haven’t really researched gravel bikes, I’m not sure what to recommend. But I tried to include some general information and things to look for.

Excellent. And it’s a quick hit of caffeine and you can add that to your protein intake for the day. To be perfectly honest, just a few shots of that I would even use for a pre-work out if you were in a pinch. I’ve been drinking Stok for the last week, and I absolutely love it. The price is more than fair for what you’re receiving with 48oz of bliss and no garbage ingredients.

As a matter of fact, I think I will add it to my protein shake!

Down to the last belt hole of my current belt. Weight is more or less the constant, fluctuating 168lbs-172lbs depending on the plethora of factors that affect weight. I assume that the meaning is that I am losing fat and gaining muscles.

What has your weight training been like? More or less, like what’s your training split during the week (I.e. Legs/shoulders on a Tuesday or something...) Since you’re putting on muscle, would you say that you’re going more higher volume keeping the weight lower, or are you going heavier as you progress?

I kept my weight training at four days a week versus five. I find the extra third rest day is really nice to have, and if you’re pushing the intensity, I can accomplish what I need to.

And I have been hooked on king salmon lately:
