... and the Apple stock tumbles due to another false report about Steve's health.

I understand the iReporter content for added visuals on confirmed stories, but not for Breaking News.

Precisely my reaction too.

Great.. that's all the market needed was a little shaking and uncertainty..

If the person who started this rumor can be found, I believe it constitutes a prosecutable SEC regulation violation. It's a reverse pump-and-dump.

Agree.

To add, this may have been a good thing to show those who don't believe, how much Apple's stock price depends on Steve being around.

The day he leaves, the stock will drop. More than likely it will recover, but the drop will be significant for sure.

Exactly right.
I hope it is a wake-up call to all at Apple.
They need contingency plans… and not keep them a secret either.

Love 'em or hate 'em but at least Microsoft did the whole Gates/Ballmer transition thing well.

I was going to say apart from the fact it was Ballmer left in charge.

Maybe so, but I beat you to it, and that's all that counts. ;)

Somebody could become a real hero in the AAPL investment community by tracking down the miserable worthless cur who started this rumor and turning the name over to the SEC.

Holy crap...someone actually reads that "iReporter" garbage? If that's your news source, you deserve what you get. The SEC should force CNN to shut down that trash once and for all. It's not enough they (and MSNBC and FOX) have turned death into entertainment, now they've gotten lazy about it. Screw 'em. Screw 'em hard.

The other side of the coin is yeah, Apple needs to come up with a viable post-Jobs plan and make it public so their ups and downs aren't based on some jackhole with an agenda.

I don't know what you are talking about . The two original threads that make up this thread were both created in the iPhone forum. When I was merging the two threads together the new default option given by the newer version of the forum software is counter intutive and the complete opposite of the slighter older version we were using I didn't change the direction.

No idea. Just saw this in the tech forum, then the iPhone forum. ;) I'm just a user (here at least). :)
