Gmail question

You will need your gmail account set up on the phone as well. Also make sure under mail settings that you have it showing the "from" field in emails.

OK, i did this had a problem. I had gmail forwarding to my mobileme account, with instructions to also archive any messages. It didn't work. Messages were getting forwarded to mobileme while also showing up on my gmail account.

I want to be able to reply/send mail from both accounts, but the only way I was able to stop recieving duplicate messages was to just have mobileme on the phone and accept that I wouldn't be able to author from my gmail address. Got any suggestions?

Ok, I have now got it working. I have disabled forwarding on gmail. Instead I created a filter that skips inbox, adds a label called My Mail and then forwards to my @me.com address. I also added a rule to stop mailing lists from being sent also.

If you forward, doesn't that:

1. mess up true time stamps for messages (may not be a big deal)
2. won't replies go to your gmail address since your me-mail received the message from that and not the original sender?

No on both accounts.

The only thing I wish I could do is set the default from address to my gmail - anybody figured out a way? (Gmail is my default account, but default from address for replies is whatever account the mail was pulled from)

I tried this two nights ago.

My issue was that I save sent mail. The mail that I sent ended up in my non-me sent box. Therefore, hitting sent in my mobileme account on iPhone resulted in an empty sent box.

Where are your sent messages going?

OK so is there a way to get mail to move automatically from Gmail's sent mail folder to mobileme's sent folder, without having to drag it there manually in mail.app?

Personal Domain

So I guess by using this and a google apps personal domain account I could send mail from this domain account using the same method described here?

Im new to the iphone, but can I set up a google apps mail account in the iphone?

If so, has anyone tried this?

My sent mail goes to Gmail All Mail

Any ideas? I have tried to follow the advice in other threads but cannot get sent mail to appear in MobileMe sent folder unless I use smtp.me.com (and then I can obviously only use my @me.com address)

Brilliant!!

You just solved a very frustrating problem with this tip. Thanks to GMail as well for allowing this functionality!!!!
