Well I have one possible scenario that I am also exploring now. I found a pretty decent 2012 mini on eBay. It is a 2.3 Quad i7. My goal, is to try and win the auction for around $600 (if that seems reasonable?). If I am this lucky, I will take the device, add the $140 256 GB Samsung SSD ( to the existing 1 TB) and then add the 16 GB RAM for $140.
Specs would be:
2.3 GHz Quad Core i7
1.25 TB Fusion Drive
16 GB RAM

Total Cost: ~$840.

If I don't win the auction I would buy:
2.6 GHz Quad Core i7
1.12 TB Fusion Drive (maybe installed myself)
16 GB RAM (installed myself)

Total Cost: ~$1050

That will work fine. Or take a look at the Crucial MX100 for $40 less.

See my comments in this thread.

Ok Thanks. I'm just curiously scouring for answers and help because I am considering buying a refurb from apple and then putting in a large SSD myself. Either as a fusion, or as a the sole drive.

I waited to long and the Refurb sold! haha Oh well.

Back to the drawing board.

My next issue I am trying to resolve is what screen to use as the monitor.

I have a 32" TV on order, but I am starting to think it may be to large…..

I want to have ample screen room so I can do lots of different things simultaneously if I choose… Would anyone else say 32" is to big? The problem I am running into is its the best bang for my buck for the value. Its cheaper and larger than a monitor……(or near equal size)

The 32" TV cost $219…..

Should I stick with that or get a couple of smaller monitors? Maybe two 22" HP monitors? Would cost around $270…

THoughts.

Here are the options I was considering:

First the 1080p TV:

And then here is the 22' HP Monitor (was going to buy 2):

Anyone know how HP monitors work with Apple?

Overall opinions appreciated.

EDIT:

A few more monitors I came across. I just don't know enough about the differences…..

I thought I would update. I haven't ordered the mini yet but I will be in the next few days.

However, I think I have finally decided on my monitors. Yes, I am going dual screen.

Here they are:

Any thoughts on these monitors and how they would work with the mini would be appreciated.

Nice! I went for dual screens when I got my mini. I decided to get Dell S2340M's. The mini drives two full HD screens no problem. Any brand monitors should work with the mini. Once the DVI/HDMI signal is being transmitted its all the same.

Cool. I only asked because I was looking at a few HP monitors first and I read in the reviews that it didn't function with the mini first with waking from sleep, and putting in sleep.
