Dopest

Yea dopest it working perfect I'm writting this from my iPhone on wifi! Well since I never used the geinus bar before the manger just put me on standby and it took me all of 4 mins to get
seen. I say just be very focus and don't let them just fix it and that's it, add that the apps close randomly, the more I added it seem to get my point across that it was defective.

sounds familiar

Totally right there with you guys. Trying to get my iPhone to talk to my Airport, which is hooked up to a Linksys router. It connects to the Airport just fine, but reverts to EDGE right away. Tried all the quick fixes to no avail. Don't really want to exchange my iPhone, nor do I want to muck with any settings or turn off encryption.

Let us know if there's any progress...

After a trip to the apple store i figured it out myself. My iphone would connect to my router but tye symbol would change as soon as i turned on safari.

The solution to this has to do with the WEP password when you input it, the security of the network can be adjusted to either WEP or WEP hex. Once I did this it the network connected right away with no problems at all.

the guy at the apple store said to me that " no you should not have to go into your router settings the phone should just be able to pick it up". once i exchanged my iphone for a new one i had no problems i enter my password and it uses the wifi the EDGE symbol does not show up anymore.

I Think I Have The Answer

After upgrading to 2.2, jailbeaking and unlocking my 2G phone I encountered the same problem (not connecting to wireless). Here is my solution. I discovered that my phone appeared 'not to like' the encryption, namely WEP 128. I went into the router program and discovered that if I use WEP 64 or WPA encryption the wireless started working in a perfectly normal manner.
I hope this information helps those who are as frustrated by this glitch as I was.
I would appreciate any feedback on this subject. Private messaging would ensure that I receive your comments.:D:D:D
