Yesterday I noticed that my Keychain passwords had been deleted - I wonder if it’s related? First, some of the passwords on my iPhone disappeared. In response, I decided to switch on Keychain for the first time on my new M1 MBP to see if that would solve the problem. However, now all my previous Keychain passwords on my iPhone (nearly 30-40 of them) have been deleted and replaced with about 10 passwords I’ve created using my new MBP. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m going to try and get in touch with Apple support tomorrow.

Hi, I downgraded to Catalina (I actually miss that UI), signed into icloud, but couldn't get the reset end-to-end encryption dialog to show up. How specifically were you all able to get it to appear? I'm tempted to contact apple support to see if they can push a button on their end, but I'm doubtful.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I didn't get a specific "reset end to end encryption" dialogue box. I was just asked to enter a passcode for my iPad.
Did something like that come up for you at all?

Apple is suppose to call me tomorrow and I will let them know what I did to solve the issue, but I am still interested in hearing what their conclusion is.

Only thing I have to deal with now is my phone number not activating with iMessage, but I've dealt with that before, and it's just because I erased and set up my phone so many times, it gets jammed up in the works and takes a day or two to sort itself out.

I haven’t had anything specifically like that happen, but I have had it before where my passwords stoped syncing between devices.

Do you happen to have a device that is up to date with all your passwords? If so, turn keychain off on that device, as you can always repopulate them from it.
If you don’t, however, it’s probable that you’ve lost them because Apple doesn’t have a system within Keychain Passwords where the user can back them up in the way a third party password manager might.

Yesterday a friend of mine let me use his MacBook running Catalina. I‘ve set up a new user with my iCloud account and tried to turn on iCloud Keychain, but besides asking me over and over again for my iCloud password, nothing changed. Is there anything else I should do? I haven’t reset my devices before setting up my account on Catalina.

I am desperate to solve this since I’m not able to use any of my HomeKit devices nor getting my iMessage messages back.

Washoping that the new beta will fix the problem. I was wrong. Still pop ups on my iPad to log into iCloud which does not work. Additionally, my iPhone lights up every few minutes although it is locked. As if a message comes in but doesn't.
In over a decade I never had such a problem with my Apple devices. Hope there will be a fix sooner or later because I unfortunately have no option to go the Catalina route :(

Go further back in the thread and follow my steps. The third password request you need to hit “forgot password” and click around until you find “reset end-to-end encrypted data”. Then you’ll be cooking with bacon grease.
