Binjunior, would you happen to know how to do this to the4s camera? I'm having the same problem but the the board is different for the new camera so I don't know how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated. Taking it in for replacement is not an option. Thanks

Nevermind. I figured it out. Just cleaned all the connections either with a toothpick and or with a toothbrush and alcohol. Good as new now.

HI, i figure out how to fix that annoying problem, I know for sure many people has been bothering by this trouble.it's easy remove the black shield on the right side of the camera remove five screws, each one has a different size, after that unplug the camera ribbon form the main board and remove the camera from the iPhone after that just put a tape or any kind of adhesive in the golden part leaving only a little part on the edge without adhesive, then place the camera and all the parts in the right place, you are done!!!!!
I've done it in over 5 iPhones and all had worked, I hope that's resolve and help everybody. :)

Awesome! :D

Tks BINJUNIOR.. Great finding. I fixed the problem in my iphone.

I have had this issue for about a month already. Brand new iPhone 4S had for about 2 weeks all of a sudden the light went on and won't turn off. At some points it gets brighter, and some darker but it won't turn off! I don't know how to take the back off or any other ways to fix this issue. If you have the answer for me I will be very appreciative. Thank you

are you jailbroken? firmware version? what have you tried already posted in the tread or else where..

I'm not sure if you've resolved this already or not, but the exact same thing happened to me. I had it on 24/7 (even when it was out of battery) for at least a month, because I had no idea what to do about it. Then one day I dropped my iPhone 4s by accident and went into Telstra to get it replaced, I also told them about my light being on and they thought it was very strange. Just as they were about to give me a new replacement they checked for water damage and it turned out I did have slight water damage.

For my contract, that meant they couldn't replace it. When I went to go get it fixed by someone else, they replaced the screen and the back screen and my light was no longer on. But they couldn't fix the water damage. A few days after I got my phone back, the light turned back on, but very dim and turned off again the next morning, I'm not sure if it's going to come back or not.
I came to the conclusion that it had something to do with the water damage and so might anyone elses phone dealing with the same problem.
I hope this helped some people.

Check for water damage, that was the cause of the same thing happening to me. If there is water in the phone, even the tiniest bit, it could mess around with some things. Just a suggestion, I'm no expert.

Did not work for me

I have same/similar problem - my light comes on and off (all on its own)- stays on for hours killing the battery.
Mine is iPhone 4 (not jailbroken), no water or any other damage, no flashlight app, camera flash off.
Earlier did visit the Apple store the 'Genius' response was - can't diagonse - they offered replacement for $149.

Followed binjunior's steps - Opened the phone and put 'transparent' tape - multiple layers - but as soon as I fix the camera ribbon back - the light comes on (much before closing the case).:(

So after few hours of effort - failed , maybe my problem was different. Speaking with the 'mall repair' guys - they say replacing camera can solve the problem.

Now after reassembling the phone - the screen won't come on - even though the phone is working (it rings) and ofcourse the light is still on:eek:. Where it is getting power I can't imagine.

Doing this is not as easy it sounds - it is delicate work - you need very tiny 00 screw driver to deal with the tiniest of screws. Putting tiny/thin tape also not easy - cut and stick (glue might be a better idea - but I did not try that). All this when this very bright light is glaring on your face. So if you are not adept at this kind of work (and have the tools) - don't try. (I tried my best - but not good enough)

So probably will feed the beast (upgrade/contract OR :apple:)
