Honestly, go for the Mac mini--it's the most customizable. Not to mention the included port selection is much better than the iMac.

And we also have no proof or confirmation of a larger, more powerful iMac. Personally, I'd just go for what you know is available--preferably the Mac mini.
Probably my choice in fact!

Apple already said they aren't interested in option #3. Stop trying to make option #3 happen because it's not gonna happen.

But their statement doesn't mean that there won't be a larger iMac screen, just that there won't be a 27" iMac. 28", 30", 32", any other larger size, is still possible.

Depending on how you configure them, performance between the Mini and the iMac will be similar. To me, the decision comes down to your workflow and whether or not you will be content with a 24" display. I used a few different 27" iMacs over the years and tried a 24" when they first came out. After a few months, I sold it and went back to the 27". My current setup is a Mac Studio with two ASDs. If you work "full screen" the 24" is probably fine. For me, going side-by-side with the 24" was not a good experience.

Consider a Mac Studio and Studio Display? Surely it will last a long time. Best to wait a few months for M4 Ultra Studio.

Otherwise the mac mini is the best of the options you polled. Consider mounting the mini on the back of the Studio Display if you want an "all in one" look.

... a few months? I had plans for a Studio M3, which will not come.
So I have to decide between an M2 now or an M4 late 2025!
That's a little too late for my dying iMac.

I heard it covered a lot on the Accidental Tech Podcast. The M3 was Apple's first take on the 3nm, but it was a dead end somehow and Apple wanted to quickly move onto the M4 and the second gen of 3nm. Hence no M3 Ultra. But M4 is here now, A18 (Pro?) will be here in the fall. We will probably get an M4 Pro and Max then too, which will likely come to laptops first. Don't know why a Studio would then wait until late 2025. If the Ultra is holding back revising models, they may drop the Ultra offering. Who knows? Late 2025 -- we will probably be on M5 by then. And Apple is already looking into 2nm. Always something new on the horizon.

Correct. When Apple is that specific, there’s something up…

I think the M4 Ultra Mac Studio will drop before year end. The Mac Pro might be 2025 due to added design complexity.

I traded in my 2013 iMac in and bought the Mac Studio and the ASD 2022.
Today, I might had gone for a maxed Mac Mini.
But I have no regrets, and my Studio will last another few years.
The ASD will work fine with next Mac too.

I am really pleased that Apple sell separate Mac’s and Displays today though. I wouldn’t go back to an iMac personally, not as 1st computer anyway.

Gurman:

When is the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro launching with high-end M-series chips?
A: I have previously reported that those models won’t be coming until the middle of next year,
Yeah, I am aware of his thoughts on the matter. I think he is wrong with respect to the Studio. I do agree the Mac Pro will likely be next year.

MacBook Pro 16"

16" is good enough when you are close enough, also M3 pro is amazing, base model 18 GB RAM will do wonders.
