Why would i want to vote for the MBP when i know it isn't the best gadget of the year?

The DS is definitely more revolutionary than it.

As of now, the DS leads the MBP by 1 % with the DS at 43% and the MBP at 42%. A couple more vote from us could throw the MBP over the top!

I voted for the DS and I don't even have one. I just don't see the Macbook Pro being very deserving of gadget of the year when all we've heard about is the problems with it, etc.

They're 42 % and 42 % and I voted for the iPod + Nike sport kit. It seems more innovative than either.

Voted for the MacBook Pro.

It is revolutionary. EVERYTHING is all in one machine, it blogs, renders, records, word processes, films, webcam chats, connects to the internet and does everything else right out of the box. It was the first laptop in history to do that. Even the PowerBook couldn't do all of that...

as much as i love my MBP...i have to vote the DS. i think the MBP is a great machine and is the best laptop out there and put Apple back in the forefront in the portable pc market.

that being said, i feel the DS has done more for it's particular industry than any of the other products. it has really thrown the gaming world on it's ear.
people finally seem to be realizing that graphics arn't everything and gameplay is king...a trend Nintendo hopes to continue with the Wii. with both classic and touch innovation, built in mic, expansion pack support, super fast load times, insane battery life, a sleek and sexy look, and a super bright screen and a ton of killer app software it is my favorite game system right now.

I agree with everything you just said. While the MBP is a nice laptop it isn't that much of an innovation. The DS is amazing for anyone that has one.

To add to the above, it is spanking the PSP in most markets because of the sheer number of great games (and Final Fantasy III and Zelda Phantom Hourglass aren't even out yet) and the innovations that appeal to non-gamers. As a consumer gadget, my opinion is that it even surpasses the iPod. It has great battery life, touch screen technology, wifi, voice recognition, and user changeable batteries. The actual hardware is actually far more innovative than the software. I still don't see a DS productivity suite, gps software, or functional browser (at least in the US). If the DS continues to evolve and gets more processing power I definately think it could become the ultimate jack of all trades and add Video and Audio playback to its repotoire of functionality. In short, owning both an iPod and a DS I see much more potential and much more squandered potential by Nintendo on the DS platform than any other device I own.

Not at the beach...
MacBook Pro 44%
Nintendo DS 41%

Jumped ahead by 3%!
Nintendo doesn't have a chance.
I'm surprised. Only Apple fan boy/girl would vote for the MacBook Pro.
If you're a Windows user, even if you really don't like the DS, you'll vote for it over the MAcBook Pro.
And there are a lot of Nintendo fan boys/girls

sheesh, you're acting like the MBP is the first machine ever to blog and do word processing. And you're wrong on the part about it being the first laptop in history to do all that -- several Sony VIAO's had built-in cameras, as well as other laptops I'm sure.

the powerbook could do all that except for webcam, which is solved using an iSight. It's really not *that* revolutionary.

The DS, on the other hand, is really really fun :) the touchpad screen is really innovative and has brought gaming to a new level. unfortunately the first DS did all this too, and that came out last year.

Regardless, I voted DS Lite.

I voted for the Nike + iPod. I think the idea is the most innovative, although I don't own it. The Nintendo DS is probably tied.

The MBP is a laptop. It's a great laptop, but it's still just a laptop. Whoop-dee doo.

It is revolutionary. EVERYTHING is all in one machine, it blogs, renders, records, word processes, films, webcam chats, connects to the internet and does everything else right out of the box. It was the first laptop in history to do that. Even the PowerBook couldn't do all of that...

Love the sarcasm. :p

MBP is pretty poop. I much prefer the DS Lite and voted for it. Everything else in that selection is tedious crud.

You can't veeeeeeeeery slooooooooowly farm coconuts on the MBP!

Which reminds me, I need to put Animal Crossing up on eBay.

Apple hit a home run with the Nike+iPod. It's so easy to use and they really thought out the product. It's so good, I would buy the nano simply just to use the Nike+ Sport Kit. (which I actually did. :))
