Yes, you're right. SE2 it is.
Did you end up getting the SE2? I am in the same boat as an original SE owner. Would like the 12 mini, but that’s just a lot of money - especially once you add on AppleCare.
Just curious what you decided.
Thanks!

I’m currently using the SE2 as an interim phone between an iPhone 11 Pro and a 12 Pro Max.

The SE2 gives a lot of bang for your buck. It’s running the superb A13 chip and runs iOS 14 like a dream. Battery life isn’t amazing, however I’m never too far from a charger. Besides, it supports fast charge so during these strange times it’s not been an issue so far.
For me, the only reason I’m personally upgrading is because I’m really keen to have a bigger screen and the better camera, but for the budget conscious, the SE2 is an incredible phone and will serve you well for years to come.

I should also add that if battery life is truly a concern, get yourself an iPhone 7 smart battery case. It fits the SE2 perfectly (almost identical size) and it even displays the case battery level in the battery widget.

@fezzzer thanks for this - all super helpful!
