True. But once you connect the analytics and interactions will send to Apple anyway. It's possible to vet some things yourself. If it wasn't done on-device, then it wouldn't be able to work without an internet connection.

Yes, Siri will want you to jump up to your Mac or iPhone to read website results it found. I’ll be surprised if they can improve Siri, it doesn’t remember the last song it just played on my min iPod speaker?I'm looking forward to Siri improvements in general and especially linked to chatgpt. My wife and I got used to asking our Google speaker questions (often related to a movie we're watching) and getting clear, relevant answers spoken back. Siri more often than not just refers me to some webpage I'd have to read.
I can see this also being useful while driving on a road trip to get information about places and then maybe tie that in with maps to include side trips as we go. Doing a lot of that hands free and eyes free would be nice.
It really hits home when it's been weeks now with literally none of the Ai features (on brand new phones "built for it" and "sold with it") and then you hear that most of what they announced in the keynote won't be on the phone until almost 2027.This is a debacle with this AI rollout. It's not some camera feature or shareplay or 3d map features.
This is a feature they've been blabbing about since WWDC and all the iPhone 16 advertising, and its not here yet and in 18.1 will still be pretty damn bare.
And apparently you will have to be put on a waiting list once 18.1 releases to get the few features they will be releasing...It really hits home when it's been weeks now with literally none of the Ai features (on brand new phones "built for it" and "sold with it") and then you hear that most of what they announced in the keynote won't be on the phone until almost 2027.
Hard to not envision a class action suit (eventually) if the roll out is as long or longer than they are currently forecasting. They actually sold a device with a headlining feature that won't be on the device until the next device is announced. Thats pretty bad business.
All the features announced at WWDC should be released by march 2025 according to reports. The 2027 timeline from Gurman is about the deployment of unannounced AI features. I guess Apple will build on existing features in future WWDC keynotes. It really hits home when it's been weeks now with literally none of the Ai features (on brand new phones "built for it" and "sold with it") and then you hear that most of what they announced in the keynote won't be on the phone until almost 2027.
It absolutely can't do this effectively. Asking it to identify the playing song and then add it to a playlist does not work. Asking it set a reminder and then change like the date/time or add a note to it works 1/10 times.Siri can maintain context between requests so you can ask a question and then reference it in a second reply.
Or if you have an iPhone 15 purchased just 8 months ago…And if you're in the EU, because of the EU legislation...
None.
Lets be clear that March 2025 is *also insane* given that the phone was sold as having the features in September of 2024.All the features announced at WWDC should be released by march 2025 according to reports. I agree that making the iPhone 16 about AI when none of the features are ready at launch is pretty stupid, but there’s no way that it will take 3 years to release the first wave of features announced in June
It's purely based on the amount of RAM in the phone is my understanding.Wonder why Apple Intelligence requires newer devices. I don't see reasons for that. Would it be a way to force people to upgrade their iPhones? I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Clean Up is available on third party Apps for years. Advanced photos search is available on Google Photos App on any iPhone. Summarize and other writing tools need more processing power? I don't get it. Hope somebody could help me understand. Honestly.
Same here but maybe my life is just different but I hardly write emails unless it is for work and I don't do this from my phone. I also never use the notes app cuz my life doesn't require me to take any notes 😅 same with transcripts of phone calls, I hardly call people. Summary of notifications? Eh, those are already super short as it is, what is there to summarize really and so on.I've been running the 18.1 beta and except for the photos clean up function, haven't found anything else I've used.
I’m seeing the update for my iPhone 14 Plus. What features listed here are actually available for devices older than the 15s?
I believe with the inception of AI to all their products Apple made a lot of their devices (e. g. iPhone 14 and earlier) obsolete. Expect security updates in the future, no feature updates though.I’m seeing the update for my iPhone 14 Plus. What features listed here are actually available for devices older than the 15s?

Maybe because of the regulation. Or maybe it's just apple using this as an excuse because it already regularly takes them years to roll out features like this internationally - if they ever do. (Still no apple news/sports/siri without "hey")/... over here)And if you're in the EU, because of the EU legislation...
