If you already have a SGS3, most will not be buying the SGS4 because it doesn't have any "killer feature". It is definitely better than the SGS3 in so many aspects, but an upgrade from SGS3 to SGS4 is simply not worth it. It's different than going from iPhone 4 to 4S, you get Siri in addition to faster processor and better camera.

The iPhone 4 not having Siri was an artificial limitation placed there by Apple. I had a 4 at the time and there is absolutely no reason the 4 didn't get Siri. All of "her" processing is done server side.

I had no temptation to upgrade to 4s from 4. Siri was not something that I cared about. It still remains turned off on my iPhone 5.

Nice effort though.

It really irritates me when people here are moaning about the upgrade not being sufficient to warrant upgrading but...

what more could samsung have possibly put in it? It does everything with the fastest and most technologically advanced hardware with the best and latest OS out there

It's a half-baked product, definitely rushed. Samsung is just taking advantage of the slow sales period just a couple of months before the next generation iPhone is about to be unveiled.

Faster 4 core processor or if your in South Korea or just as lucky (8 core big.little processor)
.2" Larger screen with 2 x the amount of pixels and full HD over the predecessor
Twice the memory (ram)
Improved screen technology (Amoled 3)
13 MP camera over the 8mp

Not to mention new software like
S-Health (or as i like to call it 'shelf')
Group play
Air Gestures
dual shot etc......

New accessories including sports armbands, and special cases that show time and caller ID ....

Bigger battery,
Slimmer design
Less weight

I may not be the biggest fan of the Samsung galaxy line, (as I don't like Touchwiz UI) but even I can see there are more than enough changes to class it as a killer upgrade for many users. And I'm sure Samsung like Apple are more than aware that many folks with S3's may not upgrade as they are still on existing carrier contracts - but the success of the S3 and the mighty hardware performance the S4 is turning out will make many of them want to.

I imagine many 'spouses' and 'family members' getting upgrades this year for their partners.

Plus Samsung hopes to sell more than the S3 so clearly they will be targeting new customers not just those who can avail of an upgrade.

That's just so silly, ill conceived and redundant, it verges on trolling.

No matter what they had done - its clear it wouldn't have been enough for the OP. This thread is just flame bait and should be closed before the ridiculousness really kicks off....

Clearly no one else does that.

??? This is really a stretch. To me, there is a significant difference between the upgrade of the 4 to 4s (better camera, faster processor, Siri but same design, same dimensions, same screen, and only minor software upgrades with iOS5). With the upgrade from S3 to S4 we see a new design, bigger phone, better PPI, new stronger gorilla glass, 8 core / 4 core 22nm CPU's running at significantly higher clock speeds, every phone now has 2gb of RAM, camera is now 13mp's and has already shown to be significantly better than anything on the market, plus a new graphics chip that will make an ipad4 blush, and finally a small overlooked spec is the addition of ac Wi-Fi!. ;-)

Does all this make a difference? Will people upgrade? Who knows. I don't. I certainly don't consider this the same as going from an iPhone 4 to 4s or 5 to 5s. Those are very, very minor increasing with the same form factor.
I am not saying you are wrong in that people won't upgrade, but I definitely don't agree with your 4/4s and GSG3/GSG4 analogy.

Here are the specs that lead me to this conclusion. (BTW, I am not one of those planning to buy an S4, but it is a very impressive phone.)

Those new software features will be made available to older galaxy devices, albeit definitely be delayed.

FYI, I am not saying that the S4 will not sell in millions. But it will sell well below expectations.

I don't think I want to trust your predictions seeing as how you own Apple stock and held them while they crashed over these past few months.

100 million is the anticipated number to be sold over the next 12 months.

S3 has just crossed 50 million in sales in 9 months. Don't know if the S4 will reach 100 million, but it will sell more than I think you want to admit to.

What killer new features did the 5 get that the 4S didn't? Actually what features AT ALL? Isn't that a better comparison? Why not just compare the 3Gs to 4?

Bigger screen? The S4 did too except unlike the iPhone the device got smaller.

LTE? S3 already had it.

But those are hardware features, not anything "killer". You mention the 4 to 4S which look completely identical and the killer feature (Siri) is still Beta.

I'm failing to see the point of this thread. I'm really surprised people bring this up. Apple has been criticized for years for all their products for spoon them feeding upgrades now people are trying to make it seem like all manufactures do this.

Huh? They always release the new Galaxy before the next iPhone. The GS4 will be released 1.5 months earlier than last year. Samsung is just quicker with their updates than Apple is. The iPhones new feature will be NFC, lol.

Now I'm really confused. You say it won't sell as much because it has no killer features. Then say the S3 will get all the features the S4 will have eventually.

So it sounds like you prefer Apples way of withholding features purely for incentive to upgrade? I'm not negating the fact Siri and Maps may run a bit better on the 4S+ but I still prefer navigation on Android and VERY old Android devices can support it. Same with Google Now, my Xoom got it.

You can also change between color profiles for the display to make it duller (what iPhone users call more "accurate").
