Some on here act like Samsung killed their dog.

That sucks that they are having a bad quarter, they employ A LOT of people, so a bad quarter could result in layoffs.

There is more to life than my team is better than yours, yet that seems to be the focus of many people. My political party is better than yours, my phone is better than yours, my game console is better than yours, and it goes on and on.

A lot more important things to be worried about.

It'll be sad for those people, but that doesn't mean I have to feel bad for the parent company that makes crappy products and makes stupid ads that rip off IP from their competition. Serves them right, I say.

HTC is arguably the better Android handset maker of the two.

Look at it from the perspective of the competition Samsung has. Apple is a very tough competitor, with some extremely compelling selling points:

The Apple ecosystem
The vastly more unified OS
The perception of high end, bling, build quality, style and perhaps reliability.

Samsung's appeal has been:

Screen size choices
Lower cost
Specifications, using the latest tech
Openness so people can modify, hack, etc their devices
Not annoying in the way Apple can be.

It just seems Apple has the important advantages here, particularly in terms of profits.

I think Samsung realizes that going their own way on Android phones may not be the way to go.

I would NOT be surprised if Samsung announces that the next Galaxy S model will ditch the Android + TouchWiz UI setup and go with a "pure Google" solution--essentially all future Galaxy S phones will use the "Google Play" version of Android.

That would be a great move on Samsungs part. Get rid of touchwiz

Analysts have been cutting their profit estimates almost daily, with at least 26 of 42 tracked by Bloomberg reducing their estimates in the past four weeks.
Bloomberg is as pro apple as Jim D is. I am pretty sure Bloomberg cherry picked the analysts to make their hypothesis sound more plausible. But overall I think even with their obvious bias what they are saying looks to be true.
