Right? OP is the type of person I would never be friends with. OP acts as if we're spending their money.
OP: "I don't want to upgrade my two year old laptop so the new models are basically 'smart fridges'. Everyone uses their laptop the same way as me and I'm going to spend multiple paragraphs and comments listing why the new models are better... but you should still listen to me on how to spend your money."

I disagree, the frame drops throughout the OS are infuriating and ridiculous to see on my current device. Now I know Apple is selling me the solution to their own problem, but still I just can't stand it. The battery life of the Intel Macs aren't particularly impressive, either

100% agree. Bought a Macbook pro 2016 planning to upgrade it 3 years later. Six years later still no point in upgrading: it fills my every need, 1TB of SSD is plenty, and an external GPU runs any website or app without problems. But I am among the lucky ones who liked the butterfly keyboard feeling and the touchbar.
Apple assembles its laptops from such quality components (screen, case, hardware etc.) that they don't get obsolete for so long it feels like a scam.

Just like I don't need a fridge with a touch screen, I don't need a laptop that is so extra. When you go to the fridge you're looking for food. Nobody cares about a touch screen. Same way, I see no compelling reason to upgrade the new laptop unless you just need a new laptop.
I think your 2019 MBP is akin to a fridge with a touchscreen. IT has items that are clearly not useable, i.e., touchbar where as Apple realized their mistakes and brought back the Function keys.

You are stating that the new MBPs (which are not exactly new at this stage) are not worth upgrading and that's clearly wrong on so many fronts.

The new MBPs have great performance, better keyboards, more ports, better screens, cooler running and are faster. Every metric that people use to measure a laptop's worth, the M1 (and now M2) Macs beat out Apple's prior models.

Apple erred when they rolled the new 2016 design, whether we're talking about the butterfly keyboard, the touchbar or the lack of ports. They made those laptops so thin that that performance was impacted. I'm happy to see a better design with the M1.

Nobody needs a new laptop every year. But it’s not often that a product like the Mac has a moment like this. In fact, can anyone think of a product that has disrupted its industry MULTIPLE times like the Mac has? I can’t. Maybe Netflix?

My point is, this post was created because OP is trying to justify something or other in his/her own brain. Please delete.
