Skin care
Leather, to be treated with care, is a living material that evolves, softens and acquires a characteristic patina over time. All Hermès leathers, regardless of colors and finishes, reveal their natural characteristics: ripples, veins and pores. Visible characteristics that indicate the "transparency" of the skin. And the more "transparent" it is, the more it will improve over the years.

However, the skin can be irreparably damaged by:
- prolonged exposure in full sun, which can alter its color;
- alcohol (perfumes), greasy products (lipsticks), sweat and ink (pens and markers) which can cause indelible marks;
- water, which when drying can leave opaque traces and even swellings that are difficult to remove.
Each leather comes from a specific savoir-faire and each item is subjected to a different use. Therefore, there is no universal product to preserve the skin. The best way to take care of a leather bracelet is to wipe it with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth and store it away from sources of light and heat when not wearing it.

The leather straps are not water resistant.
Hermès Sport Band: In case of contact with salt water or sweat, clean the clasp with a damp cloth.

Read more about the Swift calfskin
This very flexible and refined leather bears the name of Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the Gulliver calf, no longer used today.
First use in the collections: 2004
Appearance: almost smooth with a slight sheen, slightly hinted grain, at times almost imperceptible
Hand: soft and delicate
Texture: flexible and generous
Evolution over time: it becomes more flexible

More information on the Barénia calf
Originally, this leather was tanned near the village of Barr, in Alsace, from which it takes its name. Emblematic of the Maison, it is often defined as “magical” because, when massaged, it absorbs light marks and scratches.
First use in the collections: 1970s
Appearance: smooth and opaque, pommel, veins and ripples visible in transparency
Hand: oily and nourished, waxy
Texture: rich and full
Evolution over time: it quickly becomes patinated, darker in the points subject to greater contact, acquires shine and flexibility

Barénia calfskin is a traditional leather that requires the utmost care in order to bring out its natural beauty and the patina that characterizes it.

The appearance of this extraordinary leather is sublimated, darkening over time, to the point of making it a material that has always been particularly coveted and loved. We inform you that the patina may appear earlier if the strap is placed in direct contact with the skin. Be careful not to get the strap wet to prevent the calfskin from darkening further.

Mmm yeah that’s the stuff. Sending along to my, er, friend. Hehe seriously though it’s always nice to see the light play on the clasp like in shot 2
?

Yeah I love love love the silver/black contrast, especially when the light hits it just so. The Noir with black hardware is nice. But the Noir with silver hardware is something special ???

Fully agree... I don't wear mine very often, should wear it more. I love the contrast of the deep black leather with the silver hardware. And to think in the beginning that I planned to sell it...!

It's beautiful. But you don't wear it much, is it because of COVID and everyone's gone quite casual and black is more formal looking? What bands do you wear normally?

I find that I hardly wear my Hermes bands at all (only have two). I only wear my sport bands now. Haha.:D
Yes exactly that. I have been working from home mostly for the past 2 years so there hasn’t been much need to wear a nicer watch strap. I still wear my Hermes bands on days when I need to be on video, but it’s mainly because I enjoy them. I doubt anyone else can tell. But my company is returning to office work two days per week in April so my Hermes bands should start getting more use. The Noir has gotten the least wear because it is the most formal looking. But it’s so nice…

For more casual wear, it’s mainly sport bands in the cooler months and sport loops in the hot Texas summers. I really want a Jumping single tour but have yet to see a color combination I like that also has silver hardware. The black hardware Jumping bands this season are incredible (to the point where I have thought about buying the Vert/Noir and swapping the hardware for silver).

It's the same for me - guess most of us are in the same situation, haha. My company has returned to office work since last month but not full-time, either. So when I go to the office I wear the Hermes watch and a leather band - sometimes a Hermes. But right now I can only really wear Etoupe and the Noir. All others require I go to a Hermes store to get the extra hole punched in. I have now three bands awaiting their new holes! ?

Hello everyone! So i recently placed a first, timid step on the Hermes/Apple Watch doorstep, thanks to the great help of some wonderful members of this community. No need to say that after having tried my first Hermes Band (a Double Tour) i fell in love with it, and with this topic. I'm still catching up (I have about 150 pages left of this thread to study). After the jump from the aluminum case to the SS, I think my next update will be towards a Hermes AW. I need those wonderful faces!!

In the meanwhile I'm lurking on this thread and drooling after all the bands. I'm really a newbie and since I loved the Double Tour so much (the old fashioned double tour, unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about the new Attelage Double Tour that seems to have replaced for good the classic one) I was hoping to find a good deal for a Simple Tour to pair with my current Silver SS Series 5. However, I find the sizes a bit hard to read.

I have a 40 mm watch and a 140 mm wrist. The Double Tour (fitting 135-155 mm) fits perfectly. But Single Tour for 41 mm fits wrist from 140-750 mm (reading on Hermes Website). With my wrist that is exactly 140 mm, I'm afraid the Simple Tour won't fit properly: it could fit, but the lenght of the strap would be too much to look classy, or it could be too loose even on the first hole (i like my bands snug).

Do I have to say goodbye to the idea of a Single Tour? ? Has someone already faced my dilemma?
Looking for opinions.

For references, here's how I wear the double tour: to the third tightest hole.
