There is a new setup process for Hey Siri to get Siri to recognise your voice for the feature. It requires 5 repetitions of some phrases so that Siri learns how you say Hey Siri!

So for the 6S, you don't have to hold down the home button to activate Siri now?

If so, probably the best feature.

my iPhone 6 "hey siri" is always on, doesn't need to be plugged in. I'm on iOS 9.0 public beta. o_O
hmm lets be clear here: a known feature is that you can activate Siri with Hey Siri without being plugged in if you are already on the Siri screen. iPhone 6 can do this for example.

but if you saying it does it even when not plugged in, and on another screen/locked, that is a bug and not intended! that is what is new for 6s

This is exactly what I suggested yesterday when the rumors started.

I agree with @elathus

I think if this were to happen, there would be a set up process similar to Touch ID where you would speak a series of sentences and the phone would adapt to the sound/tone of your voice and activate only to when you say "Hey Siri". Windows 10 has a similar feature with Cortana where it will only recognize your voice.

Also, it'll probably grab data each time you talk to Siri so it can even better learn your exact voice.

nope i'm not in siri when i use it, it's basically like "OK Google" on Moto X device or other Android device with Google Now. I'm not complaining I like the feature :)

Unless you have a 6s you must have your phone plugged in to use Hey Siri.

Nope, not plugged and I don't have the 6s and not planning to get one. I'm just saying it's possible on the iPhone 6, not sure why Apple is making just a 6s thing.

Could you take a video of it? I'm interested to know what scenario it's working in

Are you jailbroken? There is a jailbreak tweak that allows Hey Siri when you are not plugged in.
