Some of you may have noticed it, but it almost didn't catch my eye. The latest Apple event had a strange ending.

At the end of the event, Tim Cook closed it off and the camera pointed at the sky which was followed by a pretty animation zooming into the Apple logo made of stars.

However, what followed was an abrupt cut to a subway station. A woman can be seen standing in front of the subway doors, waiting for them to open. But the camera glitches out and the woman briefly disappears and reappears again. And it cuts to a standard Apple logo directly after.

I then watched it back a few times and I recalled seeing a subway in the event before! During the Airpods Pro section of the event, the host can be seen standing inside of a subway car. The camera slowly reveals the subway car and the people sitting inside.

The sign above the door says:
"INFINITE LOOP

Next Stop: Milky Way Rd"

A few moments later the car slows down at the station (presumably Milky Way Rd) and you can briefly see the exact same woman walking into the car, as the host exits! She's wearing something around her neck.

That's what I could gather so far. Could this be a teaser of some of their future plans?
The event being called "Far Out", the subway station called "Milky Way Rd", and the star-themed event marketing could all be hints as well! Maybe "Far Out" refers to "far out into the future"? Who knows.

But it could also simply be clever marketing for some Apple TV show? Whatever it is, I love what Apple is doing with this.

What do you guys think?

Timestamps on the official Apple VOD on youtube,

46:09 - First subway scene
1:36:37 - Ending of event, abrupt cut to scene.

She is the main actress for the show Severance.
Yeah I think it may have more to do with Severance (on Apple TV+) than with preorders for things, but I would love to be wrong.

UPDATE: At the Apple Store site, there's this on the iPhone 14 page -

iPhone 14 is here

Come back later today to get ready for pre-order.
Pre-order starting at 5:00 a.m. PDT on 9.9.
iPhone 14 available starting 9.16.
iPhone 14 Plus available starting 10.7.

So... "come back later today to get ready for pre-order" hmmm. Getting ready for pre-ordering? Is that pre-pre-ordering? Come on, Apple. It's getting to be like when they tease a teaser for a trailer for a movie. Unending hype-stirring online in order for us all to be talking about things they're selling, constantly.

It's a Season 2 teaser. She also showed up in the AirPods Pro demo on the train segment. The jingle playing in the "stinger" after the presentation is also from the main title credits at the beginning of the show.

Thanks for posting both the photo series & the info... I wasn't familiar with that show, but now I know.

The question in my mind is: is this easter egg just a teaser for another season of Severance, or is there also a connection with the rumored Apple AR headset? Maybe a game/experience with the new device that ties it in with the show?

It's likely advertising for Apple TV+ without using overt advertising. Apple is all about services now.

I immediately thought this was a teaser for the upcoming AR headset and RealityOS. The woman fades in and out because she is not really there, and as all of “reality” is bending around her.

I don’t see anyone else talking about this, I guess people didn’t stick around to see it? The live blog post didn’t even mention it. If it is a teaser for RealityOS then it is a huge deal.

Yes. If you’re on the iUP, you “get ready for preorder” by getting pre approval for the Citizens iUP loan, picking your phone specs, etc for one click ordering when preorder starts. That all happened this afternoon.

Apple doesn't do 3D chess. If Apple was ready to talk about VR, they have more direct ways to talk about it.

Also the 5 notes you can hear in the video correspond to the Severance melody at the beginning of each chapter but as Severance is about a parallel reality it could tease RealityOS as well.

Do you really think Apple wants RealityOS to be associated with dystopian black comedy?
