Do you really think Apple wants RealityOS to be associated with dystopian black comedy?
Apple is bankrolling the show for their own streaming service, so they clearly aren't afraid of an artistically critical jab at their industry... if anything, I'd imagine that for Apple, it's somewhat like having a jester in a royal court.

This is Apple's most important annual event watched by millions. If you haven't noticed, Tim Cook and everyone else dresses conservatively in a polo shirt and speaks using PC language. Apple isn't a millennial start up company that deliberately provokes controversy. It makes no sense they take a "critical jab" at the next trillion dollar product in the pipeline.

Apple doesn't do 3D chess. If Apple was ready to talk about VR, they have more direct ways to talk about it.
3D chess is actually a great idea for the AR headset, and I’m sure there will be many versions of the game at launch.
