Maybe we can round up a designer and a developer and create iCheat. Free on the app store. I would download it.

Seriously though, I need to be able to hide/lock conversations too. It's not cheating, it's just that people like playing with other peoples' phones, and some things are sensitive, whether it's business related, private, or perverted, it's your right to be able to do so.

Waiting for a jailbreak for now. I was disappointed biteSMS wasn't free. New to iPhone, so thought everything from Cydia is free... ah well.

My current girlfriend does't like me talking to any of my friends.
Assume what you will, but she hates me talking to my best friends... guy or girls.
She just doesn't like me talking to anyone but her, so i'd like to find an app to avoid issues.

Stop cheating on your boyfriend/girlfriend.... At least until the jailbreak comes out hahaha

Completely USELESS post. Why do you assume he or she is cheating ?

Perhaps the user is trying to:

1- Get advice from another friend on a certain gift, and is looking for options
2- Trying to plan a secret birthday party / special event
3- ....

well, do you really need for me to keep going ? Frankly, I don't understand why the first conclusion everyone jumps to, is a negative one.

THIS. I too, am coming from an Evo, and having a hard time keeping lots of things private. Its frustrating, to say the least.

Get a google voice number and use it to text the person. It keeps the conversation in the Google app

Off topic:
Hate to be brutally honest, but dump your girlfriend. It's not worth it and it will only get worse. You should never have to sneak around to see/talk to your friends.

There's lots of fish in the sea.

On topic:
With that said. Jailbreaking is your only option, unless you simply delete any conversations she doesn't approve of.

Even better. Password lock your phone so she can't see anything that's on there. She shouldn't be snooping around on your phone anyways.

I don't see how wanting to keep a conversation private equates to being "dishonest" or to "cheating".

Everyone is different and uses their phone different ways for different uses. That is not something that is fully appreciated at Apple, perhaps you should have stayed with an Android phone.

So your girlfriend doesn't like you texting anyone else and she looks through your texts to check up on you?

It's amazing how quickly iPhone users turn into psychotherapists. Do you guys always feel obligated to get that far off topic? Anyone who comes from an Android or WebOS phone would be frustrated by the lack of control you have with an iPhone, whether over privacy of texts or emails, the notification system, the screen....it requires some adjusting. I realize the reason is to make the user experience consistent and avoid crashes, but in fact the device is fairly primitive with the exception of Siri. Having said that, I like it fine but am frustrated at times by the total lack of control.
I have discovered one app that provides at least a secure IM and email opportunity, and that's iMailG, which works through Google Mail and provides password access if you want it. I realize that doesn't help with texts, but it does provide some security for emails.

I don't understand why people don't put a pass lock on their phone and not let anyone else get on their phone!

You have a few options.

1) Delete the messages after you're done with the conversation.

2) Use Google Voice or another free text app and use that number with your "friends".

3) Tell your girlfriend to suck it, literally.

OP, just FYI a bit of advice.

Installing girlfriend 2.0 is not compatible with girlfriend 1.0 if installed at the same time.

So guys.
Her brother just died through a rough battle with cancer, she took care of him every day.
She also came from a pretty abusive relationship in the past, so it's something we're working on.

tl;dr... she's really attached, i don't mind. she's amazing.

Sounds like the phone "just works" but the girlfriend does not.
