Designed by Apple in California....California is a desert?

California is a pretty big place. Parts of it are desert, parts of it are mountainous, parts of it are wet and heavily forested, etc. The Bay Area is not a desert and I wouldn't have guessed that there were scorpions there. Besides, the area I live in is a desert and there are no scorpions here.

now that is scary...
amazing that you had the idea to take pictures for all of us to see:)
I probably would have freaked...

I'm naturally curious about the series of events that happened immediately after you saw it. Were pictures your first instinct? What's happened to it now?

Fist thing I did was yell out things I wouldn't be allowed to post here!

did you pick it up and put it outside?

It currently resides in a gatorade bottle (Used chopsticks to get it in there)

hey, nice mac pro with 8800 GTX and macbook pro.
and nice pet.
nice way to show them off too.

If it makes you feel any better - I live in New England. (for some of you - yes, it's in the continental United States)

Anyhow, I visit some family in California, my first day there, I woke up to a NEON Green Scorpion, about TWICE the size of that thing - in my SHOES.

If not for my niece dropping her toy near my shoes (which scared it out - which than scared the (#*$ out of us) I wouldn't have known, and put them straight on. Needless to say, after that, everything I put down, got spiked on the ground several times before I'd even consider putting it back on.

I don't know why, but those things freak me out.

I'm glad I live in the UK, we only have to put up with house spiders.

I totally agree! it amazes me how some of the big spiders get in my house, but a scorpion!? how the hell did it get in there?
another thought for you......what if it were walking underneath your desk....next to your feet..........?

Wow. I'm wondering where the heck it came from. Escaped pet? Stowaway in some package you recently received?

Generally, in the US, you want to encounter the larger ones. Their venom is less potent. It's the really small ones you have to worry about.

The only scorpion I've ever seen in my 16 years of living in Arizona appeared in the middle of my kitchen floor, and I was about 4 inches away from stepping on it with my bare foot.

One of those freaked me out before when I lived in FL, somehow got in to my room, I think it rode in on my dog when I let him out.

It's so small, I always imagined them to be bigger.

Glad they aren't in NZ though, we just have sheep.
