Order online. If you would of ordered on the 11th, it most likely would of shipped already.
I ordered mine on the 10th, it hasn't shipped yet... :(

(I'm sending it to a friend in Houston who will bring it to me)

Got Mine!!

I got lucky and called the store at Memorial City yesterday and they had just got a few in. I scored a 64gb 3G. :p

Now does anyone have a real burning desire for a 64gb WiFi model? This one that I bought last month is about to hit craig's list here in Houston.

Registered here (long time lurker) just for you :)

Willbrook and The Woodlands showing stock of WiFi.

I bought a 16GB wifi from Woodlands earlier. They had about 12 at that time and about 4 32GB wifi, NO 3G.

That's odd. I put my name on the reserve list last Saturday at The Woodlands Apple Store and still haven't received the email saying one is in. Luckily, I was tenacious yesterday and called Apple stores in the area. Found one at the Memorial City location.

So you just reserved it over the phone?

Pasadena Best Buy got in 10 this past week, and two of my friends picked up 16GB Wifi models. Not sure if they have any left. Those looking for Wifi only models in South Houston...you may want to call.

Still in search of a 32gig 3G.... called all the apple stores (except Memorial City... damnit....) and all the BB's.... no go. Houston seems to be hot spot for Ipad purchases..

If anybody notices them in any store around... please leave a message in this tread...

thx

I got news for ya' - it's not just Houston.

And it's not so much the demand as it is the extremely constrained supply.

I think it is demand. I was just in the Houston Galleria Apple store...there must have been over 100 people in that store...it was elbow to elbow...with people in line just to LOOK at the iPad. And, people were walking out with ipads also. Watched one family with a stack of three that they had reserved...and they were there paying for them. Aplenty guy said he had more in back...but they were for people who had reserved.

But I have never seen anything like it. The Apple Galleria store has always been busy...but this was crazy. It looked like a bear siting in Yellowstone! If you haven't seen that...let me try another analogy...how about the line outside best buy on black friday!

I was at the galleria Apple store tuesday at like 1pm and it was a mad house. Thank goodness I was there for just a case because trying to find an available employee would've been hell!

Was there some event going on that day?

I work at the First Colong Mall Apple Store in Sugar Land.
We have around 100 people on the reservations lists for each of the 3G models. We get between 12-15 3G models in per day. I'm not sure how the other stores in the area are, but you're probably going to get one faster if you order on Apple.com because right now every iPad we get in goes to reservations.

Wow. My estimates were way off then. I was thinking waiting lists were about 10-20 people deep. 100 is nuts.

Now I don't feel so dumb sitting in front of your store ALL day on the 1st day of the 3G release. :D

Plano, TX Best Buy got a shipment this morning. Sales associate at the store said about 15 of the 16GB WiFi and wouldn't say how may of the 32GB 3G version. He expected them to be sold out by this afternoon.

I placed an order today at an Apple store near me. Expecting to wait about a week to 10 days, based on what the sales associate told me.

Any more news about Houston stores having them in stock? (Best Buy, Apple?)

I recommend ordering online. Ordered on 5/4 and it arrived yesterday. Demand is high, so order online and chill until it shows up. :)

Macmall.com

I just ordered my 32gb wifi model from macmall on Thursday they had it to me by Friday. My total was $626.00 including the overnight shipping. No taxes charged for Arkansas. They did tell me that they didn't have any 3G available, only 32gb and 64 gb wifi.
