it was on rocketboom.com a few month ago as "blue ball machine".

somebody also posted a desaster where one of the scientists got kicked of his stand and shreddered to death in the machine. how sad.......

heh, i like how one of the stick figures does all the work while the other stands there. he demonstrates proper lifting technique too.
another stickman gets his head removed by the machine and it turns into a blue ball and into the system. too funny.

In the upper left quandrant, just above the horizontal laser-portation beam, balls are being zapped upward and into oblivion. So where do new balls keep coming from, to maintain the steady state? It took me a bit of staring to spot it.
