Unfortunately I had to cave and just get a Windows PC so I can ditch this stupid M1 Mac Mini.

This has just been way too infuriating for me over the last year and a half. I still cannot find a 3rd party bluetooth mouse that works seamlessly. It's constant lag, jitters, etc. It doesn't end, and I have tried every single remedy on the internet to no avail. It's borderline unusable and it gets so bad that I can't click precisely, like when I need to check a checkbox or whatever.

I have tried so many mice. How did this ever pass testing? These mice work perfectly fine on my Windows PC, perfectly fine on my Linux box, perfectly fine on Intel Macs I've tested on, but this M1 has been absolutely obnoxious.

For me this is a critical flaw because it impacts every single moment I'm using the computer with a mouse, which is of course very often. The mouse tracking being so abysmal it ruins the entire experience because it makes the whole computer feel like crud. Scrolling stinks, highlighting something stinks, trying to click with any sort of precision stinks, it just stinks!

What's really annoying is that judging by what people are saying all over the internet, this has been a problem since the beginning, and Apple, as they do, refuses to acknowledge or address it in any way. I'm tired of dealing with Apple's arrogance.

I don't like Windows and prefer macOS, but this whole bluetooth nightmare is far worse than all of Windows' annoyances combined.

Something tells me the "Magic" mouse would work perfectly fine though 🤣

Alright, I'm off my soapbox now.

Magic mice, keyboards, and trackpads work fine. If you have all three, you might have audio issues.
I wire everything for gaming.
Not sure, why this cannot get fixed. Worked better in some previous macOS iterations. But it's always been hit-or-miss.

Unbelievable!

Based on reviews on the Internet and the posts in this topic, I came to the conclusion that the root of the problem is the faulty Bluetooth 5.0 module in Mac minis and Macbook laptops with M1 series chips. Maybe, the same issue is present in the MacBook Pro M2 because it has a Bluetooth 5.0 module, too.

I did not hear someone complaining about Bluetooth who has Mac mini with M2 or M2 Pro, or Macbook Pro with M2 Pro or M2 Max because those computers have the Bluetooth 5.3 module. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

I had the issue with Bluetooth and an Apple computer only twice:

1. When I was in one hotel, the interference between my MacBook Pro 2015 15" Bluetooth and the hotel's WiFi was unsolvable, so I used a keyboard and mouse connected via USB cable.

2. At my previous job, I had a Macbook Pro M1 with the same Bluetooth issue, as many of you. I solved that Bluetooth issue using a Logitech USB Unifying Receiver.

Maybe because wireless signals will always interfere with each other? I just don't have the expectation that wireless will ever work without connection problems. And my experience is great. 😁

Knock on wood but haven't had any issue with bluetooth Logitech keyboard, cheapo Logitech travel mouse or Sony/Xbox controllers on M1 MBA 16GB/256GB since acquired beginning 2021. Have dual-band access points with 2.4GHz WIFI enabled so that doesn't appear to be interfering.

How many people with BT issues on base device with 8GB RAM? Perhaps one of the causes of BT lag/cutout is from swapping. Audio crackling which others experience but I don't might also be related to swapping.

I bought an M1 iMac 16gb/512gb over a year ago. It came with the Apple Bluetooth Magic mouse and keyboard. No other Bluetooth devices in my home. Keyboard and mouse about 30cm from the iMac with nothing sitting between them. Sometimes one or both would lose connection. After 2 weeks I sent the whole thing back. It is not just 3rd party stuff. Apple will not even get their own stuff to reliably work together. :(

Never had a single issue with Bluetooth on M1 or M2 Mini. Using Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and various third-party devices.

I do not know, because I do not have that Macbook Pro M1, anymore. The only thing I know about that module - it is Bluetooth 5.0.

Just want to chime in and say that I use Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Trackpad (all via bluetooth) with my M1 Mac Mini without any issues.

My guess is that if you're having a lot of issues with Bluetooth then you have some source of interference nearby.

Bluetooth in general has always been hit or miss for me. Some devices work great, while others are garbage. In the car, my android phone bluetooth will randomly stop playing music to the car speakers. I had a Dell XPS 13 with Ubuntu 16.04-18.04 and bluetooth audio never worked right. I must have wasted hours trying to fix connection issues. When it did connect, the range was like 1 ft. Maybe 4-5 years later I found a random forum post that said Ubuntu didn't release with the correct bluetooth drivers for Dells due to a license issue. The correct ones were on some github page. After installing those drivers, bluetooth worked perfectly with my Samsung Buds Plus and cheap Tao tronics. My Mac Air m1 and android phone seems to work perfectly with the Buds plus too. I recently bought AKG Y600 and it has audio lag every time it auto connects with my Mac. I have to disconnect and reconnect in the Mac bluetooth menu to fix the audio lag.

Do you still have the same Bluetooth issues as before, if you are still using problematic Apple machines with the newest macOS 13.3.1, or the Bluetooth issues completely solved after macOS 13.2.1?
Yeah I forgot about this thread, but indeed I still have various issues to this day. I was too excited because everything seemed fine on the first day when I made the response that it was fixed, but it turns out when I was watching my movie my mouse went to sleep so wasn’t actually connected to the laptop. The next day the issues we’re still apparent:mad:

Have you tried using different Bluetooth Earbuds or speakers to rule out the Beats Buds? I know you said it works flawless on ipad. Still worth a try just to see?

Yes i’ve tried with Airpod Pros 1st gen, as well as other bluetooth headphones. The Airpods do seem to have the least frequent cut outs, but the issue definitely still is there.

In terms of mice I’ve tried the magic mouse 2, Razer Orochi v2 and some other mouse from Amazon. And various keyboards too.

All in all the iPad never has any issues with any combination of these devices. Whereas both of the macbooks can run two devices flawlessly, but when it’s three devices (mouse, keyboard, headphones) there is always some stuttering in the audio.

These days i’ve just gotten used to using the iPad in stage manager mode to watch my content on the TV with mouse, keyboard and headphones. I’ve learnt to live with it, it is what it is, the macbooks are amazing in other aspects so I guess you can’t have it all sometimes!

You probably have something else that broadcast in the 2.4GHz range if you experience BT issues. It could be anything from a microwave to the neighbours garage door or several 2.4GHz WiFi access points shouting at full power.

Update: It turns out the latest 13.2.1 macOS release has fixed the issues for me.

Who would’ve thought! I’ve had this issue since the first version of Big Sur and now out of nowhere they fix it. A happy surprise for sure!
You might be right. My Logitech 2S Master is finally working properly via Bluetooth. There isn't a latency anymore when I move the cursor around.

Stumbled upon this post when experiencing some frustrating BlueTooth issues of my own and I think I've managed to resolve them on my MacBook M1 Pro. I was observing cutouts in Audio on my AirPods as well as stuttering on my BT trackpad (and possibly some missed key stokes on my keyboard but that could be just bad typing).

My issues seem to be related to the Bluetooth access for Microsoft Teams and/or Microsoft Edge. Our company uses Microsoft 365 extensively and recently the BlueTooth issues started and have cause so much frustration. I realised that I'd granted BT access for Teams to discover Rooms (which we do not happen to use at this time). Since Teams is running consistently in the background I believe it was causing the dropouts. I've disabled BT access under the privacy and security settings and so far so good (note; this doesn't prevent you using BT headphones such as AirPods for calls, it's preventing Teams from discovering audio devices in Teams Rooms setups). I'm not as familiar with Zoom or Google Meet but if they operate similar to Teams it's possible they've been contributing to the issues. Hopefully this helps someone having the same issues. (further note; I think the issue, at least for myself, was tied to the recent rollout of the new redesigned Teams Work+School app which is significantly better than the older app - perhaps with the exception of this infuriating BT issue)

I personally have had no problems with Mac Mini M1 and Logitech K380 keyboard, Logitech Pebble mouse and PS4 Dualshock 4. Using them all more than a year.

PS: Well, actually there have been some disconnection cases, but they last about a minute and happen rarely, like once a few weeks max.

I have the m2 pro mac mini and still the mighty mouse keeps disconnecting. Keyboard, wacom and trackpad I keep wired. I do have quite a lot of usb and Thunderbolt Devices connected, that could give interferences with Bluetooth according to various post …

I feel you. I had a MBP 16 2019, the intel one, whenever I plugged in my USB-C hub, the wifi went down or showed dropped signal. After a lot of googling it was something to do with the 'intel' usb-c. I had to 'shield' off my usb-c cable or just put it on the other side, it was something counterintuitive. (after of course changing /resetting all the possible settings). I got the MBP 16 M1 now, and that didn't display the same issues I had, so that went away.

Anyways, I found another video about this stuff:
. But there can be 'hardware' issues with your problems rather than a software bug.

perhaps 'try' a different usb-c hub/cable or 'shield' it? I would expect the iPad is differently shielded than a MBA.

Note: I believe there was also a note about USB-C, but I can only find the USB 3.0 for now https://www.intel.com/content/dam/w...-papers/usb3-frequency-interference-paper.pdf
Wow, that helped a lot, thanks a lot
