I keep trying to like it and every time I try it again ... I hate it ... and then I go back to Brave. It has many ad block filters built in on both the Mac and iOS apps. I don't need to download and install any third-party extensions. It just works. I combine it with Bitwarden and I have zero issues.

I used to feel the same, but I've actually settled on using Safari for the last few months and it's been pretty good. I cycle through basially all mainstream browsers pretty regularly, and there are definitely some things I'd like to see Apple steal from the competition (keyboard shortcut mapping, auto-PiP when switching tabs with video playing) and their profiles feature feels pretty phoned-in, but overall it's been fine for me. I don't use as many extensions now as I used to, so that probably helps, and it's nice to be able to use the native password autofill.

Easy, Safari is the fastest, the most efficient with resources and has the least impact on my MBP's battery life. It works with all of the websites I visit so can't comment on it's compatibility.

I doubt if the variation is coming from the browser, or simply other fluctuations.

Is that a single run? Or multiple run, but always have similar results?

i use it because its the best one from resources point of view. less cpu,ram usage than any other browser i've tried.
What else have you "tried" to end up with that conclusion?

That test means nothing, arbitrary rendering, typical metrics for an Apple user.

What good is X DOM elements rendered in X time, when you can't even disable ads without resorting to some half baked cash grab extension?

ARC, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Orion.
After Safari, I put Orion as the second option..
Except for Chrome, they all perform faster than Safari (ARC & Opera being Chromium based), with similar RAM usage, better privacy controls/extensions & dev tools.

It supports basically no extensions. No uBlock Origin or any other extensions I use.

Can you elaborate on "any other"? List them out?

Some websites don't render right.

Which websites? List them out?

I also use Firefox that works better on three websites I visit.

List these websites?

It also works on websites that Safari chocks on.

List these websites?

I find it hard to evaluate the universality of these assertions without specific examples.

Could not log into max.com using Safari. I wanted to create a web app. No problem login in Firefox and Edge.

I literally just logged into max.com using Safari. You're talking about the former HBO Max website right? Or something else? I'm not sure because you mention "wanted to create a web app" but max.com is not a web app creation website.

I don't use extensions that much (just AdGuard), but Safari seems fine for me. The only time I have rendering issues is on Dell's website, strangely enough. Sometimes the images are rendered as noise.

I use Firefox on the PC, and that's fine too. Perhaps I don't push my web stuff that hard, I dunno?

Okay it works when I log directly with Safari. If I try to create a web app and log in it fails every time.

Also Mac OS 14 new feature in Safari is you can create web apps from websites.

How can people use Safari?

easy!
just tap the safari app, browse what ever bums your hum (interested in) and enjoy privacy!
safari is just like a program on a computer, just launch that and you can use safari!
I hope this answered any question like how can people use safari
then again my cats can use safari, if the click the app on my iPad, MBA, MBP MBA10' Iphoine watch or itouch.
safari is eeeeeeasy to use!

I hoped this helped!
enjoy!

I am also a Safari user, mainly because it is installed on all my devices, integrates seamlessly, doesn't appear to be too resource intensive (never checked objectively though) and renders all the websites, I visit, without any problems. I use Wipr as an additional adblocker, but no other extensions.
I have to admit though, I am not the typical power user and don't have too strong of an opinion on browsers. In the past I used Opera and Firefox, even Internet Explorer.

The same kind of people who can get by with an iPad as a computer replacement, spend most of their lives on social media, trust big corp and Uncle Sam with all of their data, etc. You don't need to understand them.
